performance question

This is kinda hard to test visually, but in theory, does cranking up the LOD quality only effect how fast the LOD chunks load in? Or does it also effect how fast they update? I’ve got a static world that I render all at once to avoid having to generate chunks during gameplay. But I do sometimes have an issue where the player moves too fast for the LOD quality to update...

Extremely slow world generation using datapacks (Terralith+Terratonic) or JJ Thunder.

Initially, I installed DH to make my game look like those videos on social media about hyper-realistic Minecraft worlds. After almost 7 days of racking my brain to get the game working with approximately 170 mods, I can say that I'm almost finished. I've fixed crashes, that bug where the LODs look like Swiss cheese, configured shaders, mods, etc. Now I have a small problem, which is nothing compared to the previous ones, but I would like to solve it as soon as possible. When watching some YouTubers generate their world with DH, I've noticed that on my PC, the worlds generate extremely slowly compared to how smooth they do for others. So I started testing and disabling mods to see if I could fix anything, and I managed to make the vanilla world generation go pretty well. So I went to the next step and started using datapacks. This is where my problem comes in. For some reason, the datapacks I use (Terralith+Terratonic) or (JJ Thunder) significantly slow down the generation of my world. It would make sense since the datapacks make the generation more complex, but I've compared it to the generation of other people and I feel like it takes longer than normal because I've seen people generate a JJ Thunder world in seconds....

Crashing upon startup. (crash report included)

On fabric, v 1.20.1. Got Iris, Sodium, and Indium all to their correct up to date versions, afterwards it stopped telling me what was causing the crashing. So I went into the crash report, but I personally can't tell what the issue is.

need help for best settings for fps

What can I do to improve my fps? What are the best settings for distant horizons? Which performance mods can I use? I feel like loading chunks takes a while and Im not having enough fps. Im wondering what I can do to get the best visuality without losing too much fps. (minecraft settings etc.)

Long loading times on servers

Hi, I'm trying to use DH on a server but I noticed that it takes quite awhile to load chunks in. Also some chunks end up showing completely black. Is there any way of fixing any of that? Also I'm not sure how to share logs I'm sorry

Insane stuttering on high end pc

I have a 4090, 7950x3d cpu and 32gb of ram. I have seen videos of people showcasing this mod so I decided to install it with bliss, sodium, iris, indium, C2ME, Noisium, Tectonic and Terralith as the videos show and I allocated 8gb of ram. When I play, everything begins to stutter and I cannot move or look anywhere without stuttering. Anything higher than 128 LOD with minimal impact cpu load and distant generation set to false causes stutters. I feel like something is wrong because my computer is very powerful and has similar specs to the YouTubers who show off these mods with seemingly no issues....

Error messages in chat

for some reason, whenever I play in my survival world, these error messages keep appearing in the chat. How can I solve the problem or at least just hide the messages?

If it feels like LoD generation with Distant Generator is too slow: Try increasing CPU Load in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU. To see if Distant Generator is really working or not: 1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive settings of CPU Load. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background. ...

Distant Horizons chunk rendering problem

My chunks are generatin very slow and as you can see in the clip nearby chunks are invisible. I am using a datapack that makes mountains up to 1800 blocks high that might be the problem but is there a way to fix this? I am playing on 1.21 with the DH version 2.12-a-121 -neo-fabric....

Any way to reload LODs? (F3+a style)

I use axiom to fly quickly, & often times distant horizons can't "keep up," causing my game to have a crazy performance tank for a few minutes. I'm pretty well-convinced that just reloading all DH chunks would fix the problem, but I can't find a way to do so besides just completely relogging (which doesn't even fully fix frames on relog, but I'm not too worried about that/sure if I'm right) or restarting the game. black LODs showing up

Solution:
It's caused by starlight. DH 2.1.2 has a bug that makes it incompatible with starlight and causes these black chunks. Removing starlight won't fix the issue (but should stop new black chunks from appearing). One way to fix it would be to downgrade to DH 2.1.0 which did not have this issue.
