how does new rank reset work?
when the servers are down before an episode, riot clears out ranks above ascendant 1. this means everyone's ranks are compressed into fewer divisions.
when the servers are back, everyone's rating is temporarily hidden (unranked), but when they play 5 matches, their new rank is revealed.
during those matches your hidden skill rating moves a little faster just in case you weren't playing a lot or they got something wrong.

Im a beginner on fps games in general and im just looking for some quick help with the basics
You can find a lot of beginner guides on YouTube. Just try to play the game between watching guides since watching a video won't change anything.
As for settings, if you're starting out, it doesn't matter but eventually lower settings will make things clearer.
To pick a sens first try to clear as much desk space as you can for your mouse. Then go to the range and turn on the bots. Turn down the sens if you're over aiming, turn it up if you're underaiming. Then leave it alone and practice in deathmatch. Also actually play the game.

Aggressive playstyle
An easy way is to play Clove. Ur prbly playing passive because you feel you can't use ur util when you die. With Clove, you need to push site and if you die, you can smoke anywhere on site. So lower risk.

the only diff you'll notice is the software. the switches are slightly different technology but should feel similar.

You'll want to try this by using an ethernet cable between your PC and whatever your internet provider gave you to connect to the internet. I guess the router.

If you do anything wrong in any game mode, Riot can add a competitive cooldown to your account; even before you've unlocked competitive queue. When you unlock comp, you'll still need to wait for the cooldown.
