Etsy - Topic of the day 8/10/24
I wish I could find the good things on Etsy. I understand why it's hard (for Etsy) to curate
I've found some good random 3d printed things I've needed, or electronics tinkerers (modded things)
But I can't tell who's real for vintage, or what jewelry is real/good, etc
It's great for "it doesn't matter"

On Running
Not to derail, but I got the Cloud X Shift. Willing to try another when I wear out my current pair of Brooks (they're
ok
, but I don't run a lot). I was going to try Altra. I wear the Solstice XT 2 as my gym shoe and find them very comfortable.51 replies

On Running
@ClassClown’s comment about how long they’ll last can’t be stressed enough. I wore a pair of gym shoes on a trip with tons of walking (and rain) and they were done pretty quickly after that. It’s not fun to budget for these things separately, but a lot of gym-specific shoes are made for their very specific uses. Also, separate running, gym (lifting / other), casual if you can. They’ll probably all last you longer

On Running
I bought a pair of On for running after reading some reviews. They were super narrow, and while lightweight, I didn’t get the hype/review (and then I let them sit too long and had to sell for a fraction on ebay).

I agree, but this is where "everyone doesn't speak the same language" comes into play. There are references in here I don't think a lot of people know when they buy something or get dressed

Just that someone with all outlandish clothes may have the same boring personality and the clothes are compensation for it.

So I guess I'm also more comfortable with not knowing where I'm going too far in the future. Because I'll change, so my style naturally will too

I'm also getting better about what to sell, donate, or store, as someone who has now seen all his hs and college clothes (and early adult) come back; and have my kids ask me "why'd you get rid of that?"

Where Have You Been, Where Are You Going? - Topic of the day 7/25/24
I feel like I'm slowly settling into the scenarios where I'll actually where what I'll buy: work, hanging out, gym, etc. and not just buying what I like.
For some, it gets venn diagram-y. Like a loose ivy with military-inspired (I know, most are) items. I really like to blend, and as I get more comfortable, it just works. And even if it doesn't, I think it does, and therefore it does.

I have yet to find the Polo Bear sweater (outside of the $$$$ Yankees) that I truly want, but I do want one. Popped one off ebay one time and it wound up being too small. A clear casualty of someone's dryer.

While I'm finally getting comfortable tucking in my shirts, sweaters are/were a great way to feel like I looked neater (I'm not on the sweater-tucking trend though). Cardigans are fun, but if I pick the wrong one I get the professor comments due to the white in my beard. I don't mind it, but it's interesting where you see age pop up
