Sleeker than Loake? Okay, well Cheaney have a rather high instep, but honestly as the dear of an archfoot myself, go Loake. There's some great models in the 1880 range for example.
Crockett and Jones have two lasts which are pretty good for high instep, 325 and 341. And I'm a Brit but I hear Allen and Edmonds have a whole line for this- but the name escapes me right now.

No, Hornets is great if you like vintage! It's just worth remembering that you will see 1960s Carnaby Street fare, which may well look costumey to the modern eye.
