Unexpected Red - Topic of the day 5/13/24
Interior Decorator and TikToker Taylor Migliazzo Simon recently shared one of her favorite interior design tricks that's making its way through fashion circles as well: add a splash of red where it stands out and/or doesn't match. Do you think it works in design or fashion? And have you, purposefully or not, integrated it into any of your recent fits (#popofred), successfully or unsuccessfully? Is it a fleeting trend or a core principle?

Pop of X is definitely a way to give an outfit interest on principle. I think any colour with the level of saturation of the red in the OP would do the trick
bit more than a splash, but I feel like it gets to the point
the vibrancy of the red cuts through the monochrome and gives it the "spark" that I feel like it wouldn't have with something like white

pff. red always matches
Red bandana ftw
Apologies to those of you who live in LA
i'm trying to incoporate this more into my own fits, i love the idea of it. for most of my fits the color scheme has usually all blended together, everything mostly muted, rarely a single piece "popping"
i think this is one of my few fits where i have a red pop.

awesome
...you could say i like a pop of red

while i've also explored this with purple and pink, i think red has certain connotations (danger, sensuality, intensity) that make it a lot easier to do so in fits
helmet lang s/s 24 was underwhelming but i did like the pieces with the slashes and planes of red or magenta https://www.helmutlang.com/ss24-collection/

In a similar vein I like to wear my cinnamon corduroy suit jacket with a very monochromous outfit.

Though that outfit still needs some work I think
I'm scared to wear a saturated red hat ðŸ˜
On a related note: its funny to see how solid red ties secondhand are much cheaper on german Vinted than comparable ties in other colors
honestly there's an element of subversion in a solid red hat these days that i don't find unappealing but i get the hesitation
fun reds

ya im never wearing a red baseball cap again sorry
im white
obviously to answer the OP question pop of color is a fashion classic
espicially in monochrome/black and white it hits hard
I just bought a red cashmere beanie from J. Crew and literally didn't think of this.
issa beanie
you're fine
mostly red baseball cap is the issue
I think as long as you're dressed well you can wear a red hat
yeah a beanie is fine, but white guy in red baseball cap gives a visceral reaction
it's when you're dressed like absolute shit that people start to worry
find someone wearing a trump hat in a non bricked fit
impossible
exactly
I think it helps in auditions. Just a little something to stand out.

One big dark wear trope I’ve been tempted to try on is the full black clothes + red guidis outfit
The issue being I feel like it’ll be fun to wear a handful of times before getting boring
And then I won’t know what to do with my red clown boots
sell them off to the next person who wants to wear them with all black :xd:
Circular economy
Haha, funnily enough I did pop a little red today! It's a nice rounder to the greens and browns in my appearance. The photo was to examine this rather ebullient boutonniere in situ.

I just learned that red bandanas were a socialist/union symbol and now i want to get one (was on the list anyway, just made it easier to decide which color to get).
All the old boys here wear red bandanas
