Help branching out from slim basics
I’ve acquired a lot of Gap/BR/J Crew over the years, and am tired of looking like a 2015 slim fit catalog. I’ve started getting into mid-level brands (UW, Norse, APC, etc) and dig the modern/relaxed look, but want to integrate a few pieces here and there as opposed to jumping ship entirely. I’m 5’9, 29” waist, 140lbs, close to Toronto, don’t mind second hand (but would prefer to try the same pant fit in person first), willing to spend $250CAD on a pair of trousers/shirt, around $350CAD for a jacket/coat Here are some fits from the UW journal that I’m liking https://tinyurl.com/mpnctnje Is there a name for this style? I’ve seen everything from contemporary, minimalism, workwear, British heritage, European workwear, Japanese streetwear. Maybe I’m trying to pigeonhole, but I never know what to search for inspo. I’ve narrowed my favourite pieces down to this https://tinyurl.com/5n8b7sat. Where do you suggest I start to add? All 3 pants fit close to this https://tinyurl.com/fcsz85zv and some jackets could be stashed. This is a typical fit I wear https://tinyurl.com/mrx496d3. I like everything here, but I think relaxing the pant would be a good start. Does something like this look too ridiculous? https://tinyurl.com/5bhjw7kk Is the retail price justified for these mid-tier brands? My BR chinos were around $90, a pair of UW twill are $220. I don’t mind paying a bit more if they're objectively better, but I don’t want to pay $250 for Norse chinos to find out they’re hardly worth half that to most people. I like how UW plays with a less-formal suit. I still plan to wear my wool Suit Supply formally, but I’m sick of my business casual looking like https://tinyurl.com/5h2kkbff. Any fashion faux-paus with getting one of these unstructured suits + using the pieces for other fits? https://imgur.com/a/uw-suits-glzUK57 Are there any other brands you guys like that fit this vibe? I basically love the aesthetic of whatever Lost and Found and Uncle Otis sell Thanks!
