Favorites Series: Peacoats - Topic of the day 2/16/24
My wife found me US Navy peacoat at Goodwill for like 20 bucks. It’s older than my grandfather, and it’s some of the physically heaviest wool I’ve ever felt (to the point that it’s snapped a few hangers.) It’s one of my absolute favorite pieces, and probably the only time thrifting has worked for me.

I feel this- I wear suits and ties and have been doing so for over a decade. Prep/ivy is like learning a new language.

Level Unlocked: New Styles - Topic of the day 1/24/24
Usually I wear tailored suits, and I just bought my first 2 pairs of big pants- 90’s jeans and officers corduroy pants from banana republic. It feels super weird wearing them at first, but I’m just owning that every status quo was a movement at some point.

Brand loyalty. - Topic of the day 1/11/24
Personally, my brand loyalty is if I either find a fit from a particular company that works for me, or if their aesthetic matches my own. But I don’t define my own style based on a particular brand’s catalog.

But that’s on the agenda, and I think that from my vantage point, there’s a lot to learn about bringing the level of formality down while still maintaining a “buttoned up” look.

That really hits home rule zero of style: I’d look better in more stuff if I were in better shape 😂

Some of the looks spoke to me more than others. 6,8, and 16 were my favorites/what I’d feel most comfortable wearing.

I like the idea of evolving my style from my current starting point… maybe I have been looking at it as a parallel journey instead of a continuation of my current one.

Something Old and Something New - Topic of the day 12/22/23
Oldest: oldest item I can think of is probably a blue Burberry plaid patterned tie which I bought off a friend 12 years ago in college (it was a pair of stance socks that I had owned since high school, but they wore through a month ago… rip) Newest: a pair of socks with donuts on them that a student gifted to me. I will likely eat them shortly.

That, and some people can have fits that look amazing on them, and that resonate with me, but it doesn’t mean that they’ll look good on me.

Letting Go and Moving On - Topic of the day 12/20/23
I think that letting go of trends for the sake of being on trend/ what other people think looks good. There are some trends that suit me currently, and I roll with them in that sense, but dressing “authentically” is something I find myself moving onto.
