Favorite Piece - Topic of the day 3/22/24
I'm fortunate to have some really special stuff in my closet but my absolute favorite is my absolute first nice thing: Alden Indys via J. Crew, made possible due to that frequent mistake they made ~10-15 years ago where the big coupon (35%?) worked on Aldens.
I purchased them in 2010 (I had recently graduated college) for $337.50, which at the time was an outrageous price for me to spend on much of anything, let alone a pair of boots.
But they were my door to better understanding goodyear-welted shoes, leathers, and ultimately clothes and men's style. And ~15 years later, I still rock them pretty frequently!

Old MFA favorite brands
That's a bummer! The only ones I bought were the heavier knitted ones so I haven't had that experience.

Old MFA favorite brands
they're freaking great! and they fit my style, anyways, which has barely evolved past the early 2010s 'americana' stuff that was talked about earlier in this thread 😎

Old MFA favorite brands
this is an old thread but does anyone give a shit about Anonymous Ism socks anymore? i bought so many during sales that I still have some NWT. And I still dig 'em (like many of the wears for brands mentioned here)!

A Small Detail - Topic of the day 3/18/24
I don't really like fabric and brand tags. So I'm a fan of garments that either hide the tag under a seam in an interior pocket, treat the tags like a patch, and/or print them directly onto the cloth .

Brand Spotlight: Monitaly - Topic of the day 3/17/24
I really love the brand but rarely find pieces that I think work with my own personal style. One item that I go crazy for is their Mountain Parka.
I bought the blanket-lined parka in caramel brown a while back from NMWA but sold it when I needed to move to a warmer climate for work. When I moved back home to Portland, I bought the same parka in black, which is great but not as fun as the lighter one I had earlier.

Any go-to brands for sweatshirts with cool design elements (e.g. embroidery)?
Not sure if their latest seasons will have them but Niche has dome some embroidery on their sweatshirts recently.

Hiking shoes/boots
i know you're asking about shoes/boots but i would encourage you to put some effort into your socks! they are nearly as important in the outdoors as your actual footwear beacuse bad socks can leave you cold, wet, and/or blistered.

Shopping Workflow - Topic of the day 3/13/24
I just rely on what NMWA sells for like 80%+ of my purchases. I trust their curation more than my own eye for new brands and styles and the Styleforum community posts enough photos (or is otherwise helpful enough) to help me gauge what I think would work for me.

My first summer in Texas so I can't say I'm really excited about anything. But I just bought some GRP linen henleys and polos in some fun colors so I'll be trying to make those work.

Brands to consider
I think of both De Bonne Facture and Frank Leder when I think of autumn palettes, personally. Lots of greens/blues/browns, at least with the stuff that sticks in my mind. Might be a little outside of your price range but you can usually find DBF on sale each season..
