A Small Detail - Topic of the day 3/18/24
A small detail goes a long way. Are they any cool or useful additions to garments that caught you eye? Something that makes you appreciate it even more.

Throat clasp
Also mods it says caught you eye instead of caught your eye in the prompt
And that really caught me eye
Double zipper
Big pocket
back-collar button
flap pockets on shirts
the former is a truly functional thing that i did not value until i started wearing ties and the latter is just a cool small touch
Unconventional pockets, distressing, unconventional buttoning, multiple ways of doing it up, embroidery, run off stitching, interesting textile choice, hell even well chosen constrast stitching
Big lapel
If the fabric tastes good
More than 5 belt loops
Should be required by law on all pants.
for something like sunglasses the accent in the corners adds a special something that really make me appreciate it over others.
good example is the nanushka one with the half moon accent. mykitas is the one with the square. feel like mykita's acetate frames are always their weakest with this being one of the reasons. doesnt have any sort of identity to them besides the arms where it has their signature metal construction
Something else I enjoy: contrasting fabric inside the cuffs and collar of shirts.
another thing i appreciate but personally dislike is Kardo's shirts where they add the black button on the top for each shirt. i like the idea but feel like for some of their designs it really detracts from the overall design
Hitting the big not agree button here
not a fan of this cause i feel like its never done well. like a loud shirt with a loud inner fabric always make me not want to roll it up
understandable! for me it just make me focus on that one button rather than whatever design the shirt has
Yeah, something like that calls for taste and restraint. And it's certainly true that a lot of brands that do this have neither.
Ooh...a detail from my peacoat that I 💕 : Pockets lined with corduroy. So nice!
i luv unconventional details like how my J+ Uniqlo bombe has the tag sticking out the back
it doesn't really make sense but i like it just bc it's different
Love when the undercover jacket has mismatched buttons.
hate when i buy an undercover jacket with mismatched buttons but the random button sorter actually ended up with the same ones
Like Cam from Modern Family? :thinkbutt:
Drawstrings and cinches
Frontpanel/back panel/yoke/sleeve/cuff/pocket matched (or cut on bias) patterns on shirting and jacketing is :chefskiss: to me. Cliche but shows so much intention in the design of a garm and fabric for me
probably the thing i like most about ted baker
I don't really like fabric and brand tags. So I'm a fan of garments that either hide the tag under a seam in an interior pocket, treat the tags like a patch, and/or print them directly onto the cloth .
i like the details that nobody else sees besides the wearer. selvedge ID falls in this category but only when the manufacturer isnt being stupid about it and putting selvedge details everywhere. i've owned some dress shirts in the past where one of the button holes had contrasting stitching which i thought was pretty cool. also a fan of functioning buttons on the cuffs of suit jackets and blazers
i like the hand-warmer pockets on some winter gloves (even if i don't own any gloves that have those). and i love the extra zipper pocket on top of kangaroo pockets on hoodies. lets me keep my phone in one spot and my hands elsewhere
Liberty cuffs 🔥
Remembered a fun detail: nanamica is using snap buttons for most of its shirts now but they still sew the button hole, leave it closed and put the snap on top.
