Alden pretty much never has sales - you may be lucky if J Crew slips with a code or if a retailer is getting rid of the last stock. However, plenty available secondhand on eBay for 2-300 if you’re open.

The chambords are a weird last - long heel to ball and then short toe box. My big toe rubbed on the inside and that’s never a problem spot for me

fit advice on new loafers

I got true to my sneaker size (10.5D)/ half up from my brannock (10E). It’s a somewhat forgiving last but it tends to be lower volume at the midfoot to keep a snug fit. I found that the 10 crushed the top of my foot
