Drake’s
Surprised there isn’t a Drake’s post yet - goes to show the shift away from ivy in the past couple years.
Pros: good quality and great essentials when it comes to ivy, ties, scarves, outerwear and tailoring.
Cons: Drake’s pricing starts at your first born child. Next year they’ll probably increase their prices (again) to your first born and beloved pet.
Here’s an inspo album I put together a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/NavyBlazer/comments/smw7gk/drakes_a_tailored_inspo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
The inspo focuses on Drake’s from 2017-2021 which is more menswear focused than their more recent stuff.

Great designs and well made clothes. I like their prints on ties
Love drakes hate the prices
Crying that I’ll never own this jacket
What do you love about that jacket that Barbour doesn’t provide?
Just get a sage green Barbour or one from Spier
I just really like the intensity of the green. All the other barbour jackets I’ve seen are a more faded green or olive. Also I just really like this jacket and I know there are alternatives but I wanted to say how much I liked this specific jacket
I like the derpy frog faces that the pockets make
Have you looked at sage color? Very piney
Yes I have 🙂
i want one of their shetland sweaters
sooooo so comfy
tried on in-store in NYC 😫
I really want to be able to visit a Drake’s store and handle all of their stuff and then immediately go to ring jacket and j press to see if it’s really that much better
From my experience with Press Drake’s stuff feels nicer, but it’s so different in terms of construction that it’s hard to compare. The hopsack on my drakes blazer is so much silkier (for lack of a better word) than the stuff I’ve seen from Press and BB
Nordstrom had some on sale a week or so ago. I snagged a purple one for $120!

The Transitional Lookbook
Introducing our latest lookbook, featuring flannel Games tailoring, reversible outerwear, Merino wool rugby jerseys, and a host of Perennial Drake's favourites
this fit is making me feel things
been looking for houndstooth 3r2 jackets for a few days now but the functional lapel closure is a hard thing to verify on ebay lol
Dang are those patch flap pockets?
Also Drake's do a look without popping a collar challenge (impossible)
I think most if not all the games blazers are patch/flap
The construction is way more Italian than the padding on a J.Press jacket. Ring would be more similar to Drake’s, but really it’s the design choices that are the selling point for drake’s
I still maintain that their scarves are their best value item
They were a solid value a couple years ago when they were ~250 but those same scarves are now 375-450.
Oh geez
Ok v expense now
But who else is doing those thin and gauzy and patterned scarves like drakes does? Is there an alternative?
I remember handling some kapital scarves from fw22 that fit that description?
The prints they have are so niceee.
That’s the issue. There’s another company that does something similar but the prints/colors are no where near as good.
Hence they can charge their premium
But it makes sense, they’re making their own scarves
If it's the brushed one, I'm pretty sure they're Harleys.
Hopefully this is already common knowledge but Uniqlo coloured socks are a low-cost alternative to the crazy expensive Drake’s socks
I actually did not know this. Gonna have to rob a Uniqlo now
Best colours are red, purple, and mustard yellow imo
Their green shades are a bit lacking
Mustard for reference
More Dijon color but I like it
They used to have a good green color but not anymore
I haven’t tried Harley’s heavy weight shetland but it my Drake’s and Harley seem pretty different.
The only Drake's one I've had was from last FW and it seemed identical to my Howlin shetlands
🤷♂️
I think the styleforum thread decided the Drake's shetlands are made by Jamieson's
I'm not an expert like some of the members there but having owned Jamieson's, Harley, and Howlin, I thought the weight, yarn, construction and collar of Harley/Howlin were much more similar to those of the recent Drake's brushed shetland. It's possible the maker changed over the years
Yeah it seems like there's a debate between whether they're Harley women's (due to the shorter length) or Jamieson's. They have a blog post from last fall that looks like it's taken at the Jamieson's factory.
They’re also large enough of an account to have specific changes to the stock patterns that the factories make. Most likely they’ve changed manufacturers across the seasons since they’ve certainly had a history of that with their jackets
Seems like the shetlands on ssense are marked down. I just bought one in green for and it's really nice.
ebay blazer got here, tiny bit tight in the chest but overall pretty happy with it
Do you mean the vibrant red or the burgundy?
Vibrant is more drakes but burgundy is more practical
I also do the uniqlo socks substitute - wore mustard yesterday. Lately I've been salivating over more expensive ones though
I thought about buying a drake’s pair to see if they were worth it but bought 10 Uniqlo pairs instead lol
The styleforum folks swore by Viccel but it looks like it went under. This is the brand the old Viccel site links to now: https://celchuk.com/
Socks are absolutely diminishing returns
Saks has 25% off some drakes. Not sure if it stacks with the 10% off email coupon.

why does drakes cost so much
High quality fabrics, a lot of hand work in high cost countries, and an insane Drake’s tax (their prices have gone up an insane amount over the past few years).
damn better make some money then
I’ve resorted to eBay/marrkt/grailed and finding third party retailers with deep sales. I snagged a Shetland for 125 from Nordstrom
sounds good
i like marrkt but im hard pressed to find anything that fits me
i saw a drake's OCBD on ebay in my size but accidentally ordered it to the wrong address
Oof. Go by measurements for the ocbds because they run a bit small imo.
yeah it was by measurement
Looking at some drakes stuff yesterday and realized the front rise on a lot of their pants is like super low. I was looking at some of their casual suiting and the FR on some pants was like 10.5in
damn im looking for super low rise pants
It’s confusing because it’s definitely not how they look in the lookbooks. Their denim has a pretty long rise (like 12-14”)
Yah i was specifically look at some olive drab suit pants and was shocked its rise was only 10.5in cause modeled on a person it did not look that low
Real bummer cause that is like an absolute no for me at that FR
They dropped a new lookbook yesterday: https://us.drakes.com/blogs/news/autumn-in-paris-lookbook
The plaid shirt + patterned sweater vest is so hard and I know I'll never be able to pull it off
This one is great too
Ohh this is so good
I think this is their strongest lookbook in a while (and I love that they are doing more with chinos now)
The color palette feels key. I wonder if I can make something happen with my fair isle cardigan vest that's arriving today
I def need some brown fair isle sweter in some form
“We have drakes at home”
Anyone have one of the recent twill, duck canvas, or linen chore coats? Thinking about pulling the trigger on one but not sure which fabric to go with.
Also, seems like the linen is a different style than the twill and canvas (5 buttons vs 4)
Considering copping a cord 2 piece from drakes. Games or tailored or a 🧱 idea?
The cord games suits look so good
Good enough for me.
Brown cord games should fit my rotation of janky suiting
The games jackets are cut a bit short so if you’re tall go for tailoring
I am very much not tall
One could say I’m the opposite
I have the sudden urge to spend way too much money on one of their scarves. They're so classy.
They are really nice. I assume that you mean one of their silk ones right?
the wool silk blend ones - this one is crazy https://us.drakes.com/products/brown-mughal-hunter-print-wool-silk-scarf-1
Drakes US
Brown Mughal Hunter Print Wool-Silk Scarf
Printed scarves were the first things that Drake's produced back in the late 1970s, and we continue to make them to this day. Taken from our extensive design archive, this motif, featuring our famous Mughal hunter print has been vividly applied to a blend of wool and silk. 70% Wool 30% Silk Made in Italy Archival Mugha
I don't see myself spending that kind of money on a scarf though - maybe I might look around secondhand
There’s a pocket square of theirs that I really like but since I tons wear tailoring I have no idea how to use it
therealreal is bound to have lots of cool designer/vtg designer printed scarves
Was just going to throw it on a bag
not necessarily budget prices, but definitely cheaper than that
just about anything is cheaper lol
yeah if you don't have a suit jacket that might be tough. You can look into causal sports jackets, but a drakes ps might be too much for something like that
Yeah sports jackets dont fit how I’d like to dress right now 😅
The pocket square just has a cute design
My milquetoast take is that pocket squares generally suck and aren't a positive addition to an outfit
450
holy shit, was it made in 14th century?
Luxury goods my dude - there's some gucci scarves out there that are twice as expensive and not even half as cool. But yeah, $450, too beaucoup for my blood by a mile
I have a bunch from my #menswear days but now I tend to either wear a subtle white linen one or none at all
I've never once in my life thought a fit needed a ps. It's just needless flair and often done in either a 2010 #menswear way or just poorly imo. Takes away from good tailoring
anyone have any good pics of the games blazer / trousers mk 1. in cord
in the current dark brown
why is this their product shot:
I remember that lookbook and thinking "can y'all just style it like a blazer please"
There are some good games blazer pics in the styleforum Drake's thread if you dare to venture over there
Couldn’t resist
Looks awesome
Yeah there was no doubt as soon as I tried it on. The trousers especially are perfect. Wide, and the fabric drapes so well thanks to the weight
How'd you size? I find it's all over the place for their tailoring
38 jacket, so tts
With room for a layer
32 for the trousers, so tts as well but roomy
Exactly what I was looking for
Fit looks spot on. Glad it worked out and I'm excited to see some more fits!
The staff member I worked with was a superstar. He eyeballed my sizing and was really genuine and easy going
Very nice ! And for my knowledge how much was it ?
The full suit was £1170
I need to visit London. They mark up their products on the US site so much
Same when ordering from Ireland
There’s a mysterious up charge on everything when they convert to euro.
<:emoji_76:875522308314386513>
I’m locked out for six months now. Can’t spend a dime on clothes. That was the last hurrah.

Worth it
Anyone know anything about Drakes shirt sizing? I'm usually a Large/16 inch collar in most brands but going from Drakes measurements, even a 15.5 would fit me. Am I correct or is there something I'm missing?
@LeisurelyLoafing prolly has more info but I’d guess it depends on what type of fit you like in your shirting
I ended up sizing up .5 because I found they shrank a good bit, but I prefer a more traditional fit
I don't want it baggy because I want to wear a jacket over it. So you're saying I should go for a 16.5 even though the chest measurements indicate I need a 15.5?
I've found the Drake's measurements on their site are not very reliable. I have several Drake's shirts and all are my normal size (15.5) and fit well.
Product gallery for the dark brown cord games blazer since I struggled to find any shots a couple days ago.
this is good
i can see similarities between us when it come to what we wear lol
Baggyness wont impact wearing it under a jacket. I’m a ~16 neck size and found a 16.5 fit me well in the neck but a bit slim in the body so I sized up to a 17 (touch big in the neck but moving the button solved that issue). Tl;dr: drake’s sizing is weird and I ran into some shrinkage with a basic wash and dry. Their fabrics also aren’t consistent when it comes to shrinkage - my chambray didn’t shrink at all.
If you’re buying new it doesn’t really matter as you can just return it, but I’d definitely email them and ask about shrinkage.
you cold washed and line dry?
Warm wash line dry like all my shirts. The drakes shrinkage was noticeable.
Hmm I was interested because I've seen some shirts on eBay for £100 but if the sizing is so variable, I'm not sure I want to risk it
I'm guessing we don't have to deal with fake drakes right?
Always get measurements!
They have the sizing and type of shirt and they are new so I can check on the drakes website. But if they shrink and the site isn't not reliable for measurements, then it's very risky!
Never trust the website when you can’t return lol
Yeah I'll have to wait for a little longer for my first drakes piece!
Just to chime in with one more data point on the OCBD sizing—I took a chance on a couple 15.5s from eBay for very good prices. My true neck measurement is 15", I'm 5'10" tall, 38 chest, and they fit great. The advice I've seen elsewhere on the internet is to size up 0.5 and that seems to have worked well for me!
That’s what I’ve done with mine.
Does anyone have a lambswool shawl cardigan from Drakes? How's it fit? True to size?
Buy it direct from William lockie (I bought mine from baltzar). My recollection is they aren’t vanity sized (46 = 23” pit) so I sized up.
I don’t think William lockie makes the current version of Drake’s shawl but they made them for several years
NY Archive sale was just announced for this Thursday - Sunday
Do you know what the discount was in the past?
I've never been to one
I thought I heard in the past it was 50% off but not sure lol
We don't
queue
in NY, we get on line
I'm not even sure what'd I'd buy at the sale aside from another ocbd
The chamula beanies are so cute
the trick is to go looking for a scarf and leave dissapointed
The scarves are expensive even 50% off thoo
Like the moon merino one I got on sale from j crew was only $20
I think I will pop over and see if the chamula beanies are available. They're really beautiful
Some of Drake's scarf designs are really cool I see but those are much more than than their tartan ones
Where was this shared? I don't see it on their official Instagram or anything like that.
Btw I recall a year or two ago prices were 50-70% off at the physical archive sale
Want to carpool to NYC?
Through their email newsletter. Thank you for the discount info!
I am so tempted to go up on Thursday but I have a big work event that night I have to be back for. Then we are leaving on vacation Friday. But next archive sale!
Is anyone there? What's it like?
Saw this on ig
good lord
If they do the same in London it'd be worth flying over
>50% discount?
Yeah those prices are a bit better than I expected
Ughhh if I could ditch work...
I wonder if the selection is good, or just a bunch of clearance-type stuff
I’m trying to pull up, but I don’t get out of class until 1:30 lol
Hope it isn’t cleared out
I went to the last one. Stock was really solid through Saturday.
First day definitely had the best options, but still lots of good stuff left throughout the days (e.g., shetlands and Edward Green shoes were still around). I don’t know if they ever replenished over the days though
From what I remember, the first day was tough - I showed up a bit before open and waited 2 hours to get in. Much easier by Saturday
Ended up with a uni stripe OCBD. this year hoping to get a bit more since they had a good smattering across categories. Can update when I go after work around 5pm
Holy crap, showed up before opening and you still waited 2 hours to get in? I have stuff to do later in the day so I don’t think I can afford to stay that long ;/
It was much easier to get in on the other days. I showed up 15 minutes before on Saturday and was like the 5th person in line
I pulled up, but didn’t end up buying anything. People may have snatched all the good stuff. What I tried on for fun like their games blazers didn’t fit me that well either
They only had like two plain colored scarves
Yeah the games blazer retail price is like over $1k, at the sample sale they were selling them for $395 lol
Huge proportional discount, but it’s still a good amount of money
395 is a disgustingly cheap bargain to me
$395 is a good price for new tailoring (tho the game's blazers are unstructured) but yeah considering that's 60% off, that does indicate how pricey Drakes is
It definitely is, but a big part of it are people’s perception because of how big the og price is
I may be biased I dropped retail on a games suit like 3 weeks ago
Yeah it just doesn't make sense to me with a lot of their stuff, there's big sales for more affordable brands as well. It's cool stuff tho. I'm going to swing by tomorrow
The games blazers/suits are unique
Yeah I definitely agree that they’re unique, it’s just hard to justify for people that aren’t into the brand
Just finished up. Things were already starting to get picked over. Pretty much no knitwear this year (apart from some fair isle vests), but lots of the boucle fleeces in larger sizes and patterns
Ended up with 3 shirts I’ve been looking for, and left a pair of Alden Parajumper boots that just were too much for my wallet to take before the holidays
Awesome boots, how much were they?
$495 so around 50% off retail
Did they have any shirts in size 14?
Alsoo did they have the chamula beanies?
Unsure, I’m squarely a 16 so I kind of skipped over anything smaller. Everything seemed to skew larger than smaller (e.g., tons of XL+)
Didn’t see beanies, but once again not something I was gunning for
Thank you
Very nice haul btw!!
Thanks! Couldn’t say no to the shirt deal
Did they have any ties btw?
Tons! Like at least 100
Nice, those are some beautiful boots
Ooh cool, $65 for a nice repp tie doesn't sound like a bad idea
No size 14 iirc
Thank you! That's very good to know
Smallest size was a 15.5??
Nah, 15
Yah unfortunately I'm hard to size for dress shirts/ocbds
Did ug get a chance to see what sizes were available for the tailoring?
Yup, a lot of what I saw for the jackets were 38s, 40s, 42s, etc
There were a scarce amount of 36s that I saw, but I was getting collar gap when I was trying them on unfortunately
So no 34?
For pants, some 30s, then a majority of 32s and higher
From what I saw, yes. Idk if they’ll put out more stuff tomorrow
Wait yes as in they don't have 34?
Thank you, this is very helpful
Yeah 36 was the smallest size that I saw
I was kinda in a rush though, so there’s a good chance I missed a 34 buried in there somewhere
Lastly were there any knit long sleeve polos?
I saw a green one
Hmm cool, prob not my size tho
Didn’t really check for size or if there were more. The knitwear was just a huge, jumbled pile lol
Ugh ig I'll check it out lol tho it sounds like most likely the only thing I can buy will be a tie. Will be cool seeing Drake's stuff in person, never been to their stores before
To answer your earlier question, I didn’t see any beanies. Just a crap ton of bucket hats and caps
That's good to know, the chamula beanies are so beautiful
You’ll be fine then, there was stupid amount of ties
The reverse stripe is so nice. I wanted the light blue one but by the time I came across it online it was OOS
I was surprised to find it, was buried deep in the bottom of the wrong box.
I’m on the hunt for the blue one too, it’s fantastic. Hopefully they bring it back soon. If not, Anglo-Italian or Wythe’s looks like great fits too
There are a few of the true blue reverse stripes out their but the sky blue doesn’t seem to exist
I have a vintage one from ll bean that’s great but it’s the true blue
I have the Anglo-Italian blue reverse stripe and it's really great. I need to try out Wythes OCBDs
I regret not getting them to measure me up for a shirt when I was there.
Next time
They did have sz 14 ocbds at the sample sale but they seemed to have fit issues for me
They were very nice shirts, not as nice as the one I got from cego aside from the fact that they had MOP buttons
The ocbd I got from cego he used this beautiful dead stock fabric
Their flannel and corduroy ocbds feel so nice
Ooh I didn't try any of those
I’m just gonna hold off on buying anything until I can come early tomorrow
There's a whole bunch of stuff still available, pretty good chance they'll have what you want I think
At least as of when I went at 3 or so
Yeah I’ve only been able to come kinda late, so I just don’t want to throw out money on things when I can potentially buy anything I’ll love when they have a bigger selection at tomorrow’s opening
They refresh the inventory?
Think so?
I’ll see for sure tomorrow morning lol
Oh cool
If there’s any decent 16.5/33 shirts I’d pay someone to proxy lol
I like wythes a bunch, fit is interesting - the body is larger than I typically like but it’s got great collar roll. Fabric is a bit on the thinner side
FYI, I went again today after seeing the “restock” story. Tbh it seemed to be the same stuff that was available at 5pm on the first day
Yeah that makes sense
But maybe it’s a limited batch of new stuff that gets snatched fairly quickly in the morning. Fingers crossed for you
🙏
You inspired me to get some cool shirts
Post what you get!
I went back and wrestled with those Alden’s again😂 put them back - I need a parka for the winter before I get more boots lol
I don’t blame you, the pair you sent looked beautiful
I kinda want to give my LHS’s a friend, but my wallet definitely won’t forgive me lol
Hi it's me your friend
anyone know how the games blazer selection was? i’m guessing it’s just cotton/cord but I’d 100% run down if there’s a chance at some tweed
oh damn
Beers 👀
also anyone see what the new markdowns are?
So selection isn’t better, but discounts are @0z
I was hoping for a wider selection of ocbds with patterns I liked, but I still can’t be upset with these for $225. That burnt orange corduroy ocbd still living rent free in my head though, wish they had my size 😔
Nice grabs! That reverse stripe is gonna become a staple of my shirt rotation
they were really trying to get rid of these things lol
marked them down to 125 but it was only 80 at the register
also damn now we get another round of the entire drakes grailed section being marked up archive sale shit
Anyone happen to own or try on the Drake's x Sebago?
They should send one to Zelensky
Damn I really wanted one of those! Best I can’t find online is like 300
It’s criminal how soft and comfortable these shirts are. Just wondering, would you style the reverse stripe?
I got myself an Oppenheimer-esque tie and Call Me By Your Name-esque oxford. Ties are down to $25 today. Selection is pretty good if you're feeling adventurous. Plenty of shorts ($45), fleeces (I think $75?), XS shirts ($75) And shoes (prices vary, but very good) remaining.
$25, jeezus lol
Did they mark down shoes even more?
There were a ton of shorts in size 31-34, but the people working there told me they tend to run very small, so I didn't go for them
I cld have maybe saved $40 on my tie but good chance it would have been snatched by then
Also have to factor in the train costs as I wasn't planning on going to the city today
Love that ocbd
I was looking at an Astorflex-type derby for $95 but decided against it. A pair of Alden color 8 boots was $495. I've never seen them on sale anywhere for those prices (including "normal" Astorflex)
Yeah that's a great haul! Beautiful tie and ocbd
Yeah that’s pretty good, isn’t that like 50% off of Alden’s retail?
Also a good number of sweatshirts. A few beautiful Breton stripe linen tees if you're a size 36 or 38. I wish they'd fit me.
Long sleeve or short sleeve?
The tee? Short sleeve. A good number of long-sleeve sweatshirts but I wasn't interested in them.
Jeans, olive fatigues, grey flannels on the bottom. Navy and grey sweaters on top. Could potentially see browns working too, but it may be too saturated of a pink. Greens as well on a case by case basis. Black knit ties if trying to go formal
Bet, I’m just gonna steal some of those ideas lol. I’m still kinda at a loss with how to style patterns as well as tailoring so this helps a lot

Picked up some dark brown linen sartorial trousers from the sale
Apparently made by Rota
Heavy Irish linen is surprisingly good even in 40-50F weather
Rota makes great pants
If only they aint 500 msrp 😦
some deals to be had on nmwa sometimes, I have yet to cop any
I like how nmwa commissioned fuller Rota cuts, maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a pair through the archive sale next yr
well my inspo pic folder is now mainly fotos from that album
I look at it a lot
next step actually finding clothes to recreate the look without going extremly broke
I don't doubt it. It is some great stuff. Good looking but also very wearable if that makes sense
Jason Jules could make a potato sack look great
Fair sometimes I wonder with some stuff if the outfit is actually good or if the model is just great. Like the Paul Newman effect
I can tell you from personal experience it can be both. Im 6’ with relatively short legs so I need a much longer rise than someone like Jules. That means a lot of tailoring doesn’t work for me because either the rise is too short or the button stance is too high. Took me a while to figure out what really works for me.
But some stuff just looks good no matter what (like that purple Shetland from Drake’s in my waywt from yesterday)
That is a beautifull shetland I really need to upgrade my knits maybe I will try to find something nice come January. And yeah at the end of the day fit is everything. I have relatively short legs as well like a 33 inch inseam
29-30” depending on where I want it to hit lol. I snagged it from Nordstrom on closeout for 120! One of my best grabs to date
That is a great price. Never came across something from Drake's in the wild.
I camp a few retailers for sales lol
Makes sense I need to figure out smth simmilar for my location + used stuff
Anyone aware if sizing on Drake's coats has changed in the last 4-5 years? Looking at a used db overcoat size 50 but the pit to pit is measured at 21" vs 23.7" on their current db's.
50 IT sizing. 21" on an overcoat seems snug for a 40 US / 50 IT
can you get a photo with a ruler laid on top?
unlikely, closes out in 6 hours
Found reference to the model number on the tag, it's a slim fit. It is indeed 21" p2p
ho hum
Same dimensions as a 38 SEH Kelly Ulster on the site right now but longer.
Oh so slimmm
yea 😢

Archive sale is up, code is archive24!
The suede derbies from the sale are cool
I debated buying those derbies from the NY sample sale last year for like $100 but eventually decided not to. Figured they duplicated the effect of my snuff suede Alden loafers. Sometimes I wonder if I was wrong...
My EOY bonus doesn't get paid out until March FML lol
The prices in the sale, landed with VAT etc. are higher than buying in store. 😢
Wow $100! All I got from the ny archive sale was a tie. Have to keep this in mind for next year
Huh it doesn't work. Just wanted to compare online archive prices with in person
!
is part of the passwordThank you that works
Yah that is more like a regular sale than a sample sale
So the cheaper derbies aren't welted?
And I'm curious how the derbies they mark as welted (those are made in a northampshire factory) compare to the made in UK offering from Loake and Herring
Or Crockett & Jones at the pricier end
does anyone own the games trousers? does the listed rise on the website(s) include the waistband? The modelled photos do not make the rise look as low as it's listed?
I have them. I haven't measured the rise but I would say they're mid-rise
is the archive sale over? I bought something yesterday but weirdly can’t access the site today
Copped a green easy day suit, brand new with some alterations on eBay. Love it. Easy enough to break it down into separates, which I guess is expected from drakes
New spring transitional lookbook is out: https://www.drakes.com/blogs/news/the-drakes-spring-summer-transitional-lookbook-2024
A cotton or cotton/linen games suit would be real nice
I'm weighing it up against the linen twill from EG
The olive one is nice too
Do some people manage to tie scarves like them?
I have a cotton linen games suit and it's one of my favorite things to wear in the spring and summer
I really want a brown one. But also they're so expensive
Yeah, it seems like someone else could offer the same thing for half the price, and yet there's nothing quite like it I've found at least.
It's the little details. And the longer you obsess over the brand the more you convince themselves that no one else gets it right
I don't have a problem, I swear
Id like a return of those saturated japanese linen jackets
The latest lookbook is their best in many seasons imo. I need to get myself a braided brown leather belt...
grail acquired 🫡
What do you think about this jacket ? https://www.drakes.com/products/navy-waxed-cotton-surf-cagoule

Like the way the pockets look
i'm never going to find it secondhand :nooooo:
If the pockets are what you like as well look into harrington jackets

half the price
nice, maybe a little longer ?
Yeah, that wouldn't be a hard alteration though it's a simiple hem
yes, doy you have one ? i'm looking for a retailer in France but it's hard to find. I've read some articles about this brand recently, seems solid and good quality
No, just the style was very similar. Looks like these are the only EU stockists listed on their site. https://justthesea.com/collections/nautical-clothing/

I can't stand behind this store because I've honestly never heard of them before but they have an insta that's followed by merz b schwanen and stuf f. https://www.therstore.com/product/id/2486/YARMOUTH-OILSKINS-The-Cagoule/

the Navy Cagoule is heavily discounted in medium and large and they discount vat for out of UK sales. So at least if you got stung for customs it'd balance out.
I purchased my yellow yarmouth smock from them. Good people, good smock.
New lookbook online : https://www.drakes.com/blogs/news/a-hong-kong-style-story
Drakes
A Hong Kong Story
Marking the arrival of the Drake's Hong Kong pop-up at Pedder Arcade, we spent a few days in the city capturing our latest collection
Never thought about a a white/cream chore coat
That green seersucker 🔥
I really love that blue chambray shirt
that jacket is maybe the coolest thing they've made imo
How is it different from a Barbour Bedale ?
i personally think the Drake's green is nicer than either of Barbour's greens. The Barbour sage is close; the Barbour olive is more brown. hard to pinpoint exactly what it is but there's something very nice about the Drake's one
I noticed the color is a bit different but I grab few months ago a vintage bedale in good condition for 100€. For me the differences are not sufficient to justify this price difference when precisely the Barbour is the original model
Color+fit+details, the usual things that make Drake's unique. The green is a perfect color, the beefy brass+black enamaled hardware really pops. The fit allows you to fit every layer underneath without looking like you put a larger persons jacket on. It's also padded with synthetic fill, so warmer, and the lining is brushed, and therefore much more pleasant to the touch than Barbours.
I don't really care about the "original" model, though I doubt Barbour were the first waxed jackets. I don't really care to compare clothes either, it's not how I enjoy them, similar to comparing songs or paintings. I just think it's a beautiful jacket and one of the nicest Drake's pieces
Maybe not the first one but everyone has Barbour in mind when you talk about waxed jacket, but I see your point
Maybe it’s the problem with Drakes, they influenced a lot of male fashion actually and their lookbook are always too cool. The risk begins when everyone think their stuff like some piece of arts and not just clothes you could buy
i dunno, I have a green coverall and a beaufort, I almost never wear the beaufort anymore, the coverall just makes me happier to wear
I you have both I understand you
I also paid 50% for the coverall, still a crazy price but I def couldn't afford it full price
Second hand ?
Gentleman's footwear had a sale on floor items/last items etc. The snap on one of the chest pockets was missing its ring so it wouldn't snap shut. I already had a bunch of different snaps so I just cut one open and stole it's ring to replace the one on the jacket, good as new
it also happened to be a Made In England version which I believe is the older version, no idea what the differences are
ooh, also forgot the rounded quarters on the bottom, something I've begun to like more and more in the casual-refined territory
I’m curious to see a #waywt of you with it
this is the only one I have. Love wearing clothes, couldn't be assed to take good pictures unfortunately.
Nice !
I upgrade mine just with a real camera which I put in a flower pot with a retarder
Someone go to the archive sale and grab the bengal tiger hat for me, i regret not getting it
When does drakes normally goes on sale?
Never outside of archive sales. Third party retailers is a different story
When is the online archive sale normally :raisin: they just had a popup store in my city and I finally nailed down all the sizing :raisin:
They just had their online archive sale a few months ago so probably not until late summer / early fall. That said the stock in their archive sales isn't usually the stuff from the previous season
Agree with LL that your best bet is third party retailers. I've found ssense and Mr. Porter to be the most frequent. Saks occasionally has a really good deal
When we can buy it, around mid April I guess ?
New lookbook. Fairly boring but I always manage to find something I like
I know it's way over priced but it looks so damn good. Just the right balance of smart and casual.
timberland mocs on the up and up
I wish that games suit was a darker shade of brown
Love the cut and that it's linen
Makes me wants a navy seersucker suit
The smock shirt shots are what convinced me I needed one, its comfortable
truly becoming olive seersucker suit pilled every time s/s rolls around. this is also making me want to make more smock shirts because they're so easy to sew (comparatively ofc)
what loafers are those? they're beautiful
I want to save up for a few suits. Right now, I'm struggling to find any that I like the styling of more than Drake's. I also want a few pairs of shoes to round out some outfits. It gets so hard to save up though when I see awesome pieces that I just want to jump on now like the linen smocks in the spring look book. Absolutley love them.
I have the same thing. Saving for good loafers is hard when Vinted keeps churning out decent OCBDs like nobody’s business
thanks, they're the Loake Imperial
I've been pretty meh on Drake's lookbooks over the past couple of years but the latest is 🔥

That chocolate db is gorgeous
brown jacket with white pants is always :chefskiss:
I really like the brown glen check db
But I have more sport coats than my wardrobe needs anyway
Anyone pull up to the archive sale?
I’m headed there later today, anyone have a screenshot of the post? i can’t find the address anywhere
it's 345 broome, they sent it out in their email newsletter. could you send the price list and what's there incl. if there are any shoes when you go?
will do🫡
just gotta check styleforum, those nerds love relaxed tailoring /s
I would snag a linen suit at that price. With global warming they're going to be the only suits I want to ever wear lol
thank you!!
oh i was hoping they'd have the shoes from their own brand
maybe there'll be something left on Sunday and the $700 will be a lot lower 👀
ssense often has the chukkas on deep sale
astorflex also has a huckberry excl now that looks pretty similar
hmm idk if edward green is my style anyway
i'm just keeping an eye out for like a suede derby shoe
getting a welted one for like $200 would be v nice
I went to the sale. Mostly linen tailoring. A ton of odd shirts but not many OCBDs. Plenty of knitwear. I picked up a brown mk II games suit. Prices definitely seemed higher than what I've seen for past sales but still plenty of good deals to be had
All the shoes were size 10.5
Me whenever you post a recent purchase
Will there be any online archive sale 😦
Last day discounts are unfortunately not as good as last time 😦
Ties (of which there are plenty) are $50 instead of $25. Still an objectively good deal but not what I'd pay for a tie when eBay exists.
Shoe prices are good. $395 for Alden shell is great though only a handful of sizes. Also some Alden suede, Yuketen, etc. I grabbed a pair of suede derbies from Drake's/Astorflex that I regretted not buying at the last sale. It was $145 instead of $115, as it previously was, but oh well — I'm glad they still had it
Otherwise, they're kinda cleared out. A ton of XS shirts but not much of any other sizes. A lot of brown corduroy Games trousers for $225 (which is way more than I'd pay when you can get similar stuff from Wallace & Barnes and PRL, but may be a good deal for some people.) a lot of lambswool shawl cardigans in prices that are still too high for me. Some XS sweaters and sweatshirts.
Not true that all shoe sizes are 10.5. the sizes on display were limited, but they have more in the back.
What other sizes out of curiosity lol?
I think I'll wait for the next archive sale
And are they shell LHS loafers?
No shell LHS. I wish!
Sizes depend on the shoes
oh i should be 8 or 8.5 depending on the last
lol i've been monitoring the j.crew website to see if they make a mistake/weird sale on them
tho u can also like go secondhand lmao
There was just one shoe on display for each style available. You had to ask a person working there to check in the back for additional sizes. I just got my Chard derbies (in 9.5) and didn't ask about others.
LHS are notoriously difficult to size for. I would advise against buying them from a random online sale until you have your size figured out
And damn I didn't realize that about the shoes. Unfortunately the games trousers I bought are like a size 29 despite being labeled a size 32. The trouble with archive sales I guess
yeah I've found it hard to find LHS shoes at a super steep discount on eBay. The trouble is, they're such good and comfortable shoes that it's hard to find them lightly used lol. And the ones that are lightly used usually go for above $400.
could check if they can be let out?
drake's has good resale value at least too
The chard derbies are so so great. I adore mine
Woah those are so pretty
Would anyone know who makes the 6 button cardigan for Drake's?
I think William Lockie makes their knitwear^
Anyone have experience with their Easyday chambray shirts? Are they worse than their ordinary shirts? There's one on Grailed that I'm eyeing...
at least not all of them, currently drake’s shetlands are made by harley of scotland.
Yeah referencing this thread https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1229392551740440619/1229396824784113725, LL says at the bottom that Drake's recently switched to Harley (after me saying mine from those 2 seemed indistinguishable haha)
Trying to predict what fleece I’ll like most for the fall months out, the blue has always sang to me but i didnt even know the plaid ones existed
Archive sale btw
Posted this in another channel, but I snagged this on eBay for less than the cost of a first born and am trying to brainstorm ideas for styling. Someone suggested a turtleneck and that has me very excited.
Archive sale has some gorgeous tweeds. Not that im gonna buy any of them but they are pretty
turtleneck sounds good. Obviously you can do the whole Ivy shtick with ocbds
An oxford was my initial thought, yeah
A black long sleeve polo would work well, too
New lookbook. Some good stuff
Feels like a return to form for me. I wasn't super feeling the last few but I will be borrowing some of these ideas in the fall
some highlights for me
I've been keeping an eye out for the perfect dramatic big coat in a prince of Wales check. I'm pretty sure this is it.
Pity about the price 🥲
Bit too short for me personally but very nice nevertheless!
Spier has a brown one this season but Drake’s has a better silhouette
And patch pockets > jetted pockets
def keep an eye out on ebay, lots of big coats on there
Glad we're back to that time of year where we all start looking forward to big coats
What's the length? Hard to tell how tall the model is in the lookbook
do you know what trousers those are in the first two pics?
I'm assuming they're drake's right
oh I think I found them

Yeah they're all Drake's. Looks like they're flat front trousers
Jinx
Not the same color but decent price and you can definitely find a discount code https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/drake-s-cotton-flat-front-chino-pants-0400020773702.html?dwvar_0400020773702_color=ECRU
Got this in my emails today, sadly can’t make it as I’m working but for anyone else in London there may be some good deals on offer
Its a good thing I really don't need more jackets because this showed up on my vinted feed for a very reasonable price the other day
Do y’all know if this is a Drake suit?
Might could be: https://discordapp.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1281293641586966642
hard to tell but could have a finer wale and more structure in the shouders. Not enough resoulution to be definitive. Colour looks right.
Likely Drake's because that's one of their scarves (and the shirt looks familiar). Given the structured shoulders it's probably one of their classic suits from a previous season.
🤌🤌🤌
Are the jeans worth the cost from Drake’s? Any alternative higher waisted jeans ?
anyone have thoughts on their shetlands? how big do they run?
i find tts
Size M fit me best
5’11 165
Orslow
anyone knows who makes the drakes vest or where i could get smth similar that’s not milplus?
Something like Taion might have something
Universal works do similar
If you're a medium there's a super cheap one listed on 2nd Street
Universal works makes great basics, their twill stuff from third party retailers is usually a good price for what you get
thanks for the reccs y’all, i’m leaning towards a taion model rn that’s pretty close
Barbour’s polar quilt liner is pretty close too
Maybe not as cropped
Drake’s has reached a new level of absurd
The fit on this latest round of denim is so bad too
I tried on a pair at their NY store and the crotch looked even worse than that photo
Pretty uneventful
whelmed
Reinforces my desire for a prince of Wales big coat
Wearing Drake's to go fly fishing seems ridiculous but this is pretty good https://us.drakes.com/blogs/news/gone-fishing-with-atsushi-hasegawa?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Gone%20Fishing%20with%20Atsushi%20Hasegawa&utm_id=01JCR6WNDY803J21BRKM8DV1R9

Side question. Anyone here on the taller side who wears Drakes? Do their clothes fit ok for tall skinny folks?
