Stuck, considering rebuilding VC3.1 500
I think my rear z stepper isolator was loose. Loosened completely and tightened and my mesh now looks fixable.

.248 is good, how does the first layer look w/ adaptive meshing? otherwise - your x gantry could be under compression in the back. if you remove the plates holding the arms in front, see if the arms want to push 'out' as you move the gantry from y=0 to y=500. if yes, your gantry is under compression and that's likely causing the hump!

hey! well, i'm glad the mesh is sorted out! for the mesh, i run one before each print with the adaptive mesh setting, and i haven't noticed any first layer problems (that aren't my fault for z-offset issues). are you running that?

i think that video has a good idea of 'matters' vs 'doesnt matter' as far as squareness, although it does not cover the enclosure. good luck, hope it works out 🙂 lemme know how it works out!

huh. i had a pretty extreme saddle (vc500) and i took the x gantry apart, made sure it all fit well, and it magically went away. i think there's a little bit of sag in the back corners, but the front is totally flat. i think if the front were flat instead of having the hump i'd lean towards 'sag' but the hump is pronounced there too. if you take the plates off the front two corners, do they want to push out away from the frame? that'd indicate the x gantry is getting put into compression. (not an expert, this is my first rr and i only recently completed it)

is your x gantry seated firmly in the connector pieces (whatever they're called)? the hump in the front - where the bed is supported on either end - makes me think the gantry is bowing upwards and not seated all the way in those pieces.

the gantry also may not have been seated all the way in the end pieces. i took the ends off, put it back together, and the front ends stopped wanting to push out when y=500 (and front corners A, B were detached)

i didn't lower the back extrusions, i raised them. it was a relative pain (takes more screws / unscrews) compared to moving the front. i am by no means an expert but i think that if you're having to push so much on the front corners such that they really want to snap back in to place it's worth the time to back up a bit and check the frame is square and the feet are level. i have a little bit of sag in my back corners but it is not affecting anything - i printed a perfectly flat .2mm first layer on the full 500x500 - the mesh just handled it.

@beejayf at first i thought it was dumb, because i wanted it to work "correctly". then i remembered "it's not stupid if it works". thanks for the tip...now just a touch above .2.

Mesh Range High... Frame or Bed?
i thought it was kind of stupid at first, but...i shimmed mine (for a different reason) with painters tape. you could give that a try.

i've been working on this a bit and can give you some updates with what did / didn't work.... i DID loosen my x linear rail screws all the way and only retightened about 7 of them (gently, as suggested in the video that is shared quite a bit) and it didn't really make a difference. i've done some voodoo magic to widen the back of the printer and i'll see if it works. i'm concerned it has put the whole frame under a bit too much tension, but we'll see. more later once i fix it

One thing i noticed on my machine, after loosening the screws section by section to check for any forces being applied...the Y rails are visibly pushed out by the gantry when at y=0, indicating there's some sort of compression on the gantry when at Ymax (hence the saddle).

V-Core 3 500x500 With BLTouch. Where / how do I increase the mesh grid size?
looks like it comes from here https://github.com/Rat-OS/RatOS-configuration/blob/d0656945750c36f76fb547665309f810a6e0c46e/printers/v-core-pro/500.cfg#L16 a section like this in printer.cfg increased the mesh size for me
