I love the socks (retro stripes and solids). They're basically the only socks I wear other than dress socks and no-shows. I agree with @havensk they may not last 5 years but I have a fun time getting a refresh every couple of years. I also love their mesh shorts but to me they're not great on making patterns so I haven't really tried their shirts or other body-shaped clothes.

So far I have shirts (Exact, Generous, Distant, Frame) and some bottoms (Big Jeans, Motion Shorts) and everything is beautifully made and usually even better in person than it looks online. Their fabrics do vary so don't expect every shirt to feel the same, for example.

Also, slim is fine but their contemporary fit is still not too roomy and more versatile, in my opinion.

If you are excited by the little details that Gitman has, get the Gitman. Otherwise, S&M is also nice cuz if you like it you know you can get more colors or whatever that are the same.

S&M are some of my fav OCBDs. Gitman is notorious for sizing variations even among their stated sizes but maybe if you're seeing manual measurements they'd be accurate.
