Spier & Mackay OCBD vs. used Gitman Bros. Vintage OCBD

I'm considering a new OCBD and am torn between a new S&M casual oxford, vs. a Gitman Bros. Vintage I found online used, similar price. Quality on the used GBV seems great, doesn't look worn. S&M has returns, I wouldn't be able to return the GBV. Sizing on both is very similar except GBV is probably too long to wear untucked, so I'd likely hem it. S&M is currently out of slim medium, so I'd possibly get contemporary fit and have it taken in. As far as Ivy details goes, collar roll is nice but I have no other preferences about them. Would it be stupid to not go for the GBV? I'm very curious about how much of a quality difference there is and I've never owned any high-end clothing before. But S&M might be a "safer" choice due to possibility of returns - though the measurements online seem on-point.

S&M are some of my fav OCBDs. Gitman is notorious for sizing variations even among their stated sizes but maybe if you're seeing manual measurements they'd be accurate.

Yeah, measurements are by the guy selling it on the gitman

If you are excited by the little details that Gitman has, get the Gitman. Otherwise, S&M is also nice cuz if you like it you know you can get more colors or whatever that are the same. Also, slim is fine but their contemporary fit is still not too roomy and more versatile, in my opinion. Quality wise I'd say they're similar

I agree that Spier contemporary is still not particularly roomy. My other nitpick on my spier was that it didn't have a locker loop over the back pleat. I'd go for the Gitman if the garment measurements look good

Glad to know contemporary shouldn't be too baggy. I'm leaning towards the Spier atm. According to the product page for the casual oxford it should have a locker loop. Although I don't know exactly how much less the length is for the casual oxford (meant to be worn untucked)
