If you order from Bosie, I know you can pay a small fee to get your wool brushed (for that fuzzy texture, like J. Press Shaggy Dog). You can choose how fuzzy you want it to be.

Yes, same quality! I guess the Howlin premium comes from the more intricate patterns and details... and from advertising, of course.

Or Bosie (same brand as Harley; their branding makes me confused)

Take a look at Harley of Scotland — Howlin garments come from their factory, if I'm not mistaken.

Never tried them, but I've read great things about American Giant (very thick, I believe).
awz5082 is right : House of Blanks is nice, usually has good sales for Black Friday or Boxing Day.
I don't like their fits, but Colourful Standards seem to be well regarded.

I was annoyed by the 990s fit (too roomy) until I switched to heel lock lacing. Since then I love them; roomy enough for thick socks, but I can also tighten the laces and secure my heels for light socks. Feets not sliding anymore.

To each its own. I find my 998s way more confortable than my 990v5s. "Better midsole" doesn't really mean anything, especially since we're not talking about running with those shoes. For everyday wear, you also have to think about other stuff like the fabric quality and feel.

I beg to differ : 574s were my first pair of NBs and I fell in love with them. For the price point, I think it's hard to find something as confortable. Marshmallow-feel.
But I also agree that their heritage line is wonderful. I bought my first two MiUSA second hand on ebay — 998s and 997s —, and paid about 130$CAD for each pair, in mint condition They are really sturdy and the materials are great. Nice suede, you definitively feel the difference.

I'm asking because I tried the 1950s coverall instore, fell in love with it but I couldn't swallow the sweet Canadian pricing. Size 3 felt pefect. Since then I tumbled into the proxy rabbit hole and I just found a nice size 3, second hand ; the measurement provided by the seller doesn't match the item I tried, and I'm wondering
