Reigning Champ
I cannot speak about the material, but just a word of warning : these pieces, like most of their stuff, are now made in Vietnam, not in Canada like it used to be. (RC has been bought by Aritza in 2021)

They're much smaller than expected; you're right about shrinking. And following up with the seller is a good idea, I'll look into it — if I can manage my way through Japanese translations!

I'm asking because I tried the 1950s coverall instore, fell in love with it but I couldn't swallow the sweet Canadian pricing. Size 3 felt pefect. Since then I tumbled into the proxy rabbit hole and I just found a nice size 3, second hand ; the measurement provided by the seller doesn't match the item I tried, and I'm wondering

Questions regarding tops sizing : does it varies through the years? And is the sizing the same for the Japanese and the American markets?

T-shirts for short guys?
If you can't find anything, you could still tuck them in, or buy a bunch and bring them to a seamstress to get them shorten. It's a very quick job that won't cost you much, especially if you bring them in batch, plus it's easy to find a local retired lady (or man) offering their service for that kind of job if you want to spend even less.

Looking for new headwear
(But I would still reply that so many older cool japanese gentlemen look wonderful wearing them. And it seem so natural. I can't explain why.)

Indeed! But that's what make them interesting, isn't? The challenge to pull it off, the extraordinary high-stakes!

Never wore them myself, but I think bucket hats look fun! (In fact, I recently bought one and I'm patiently waiting for warmer days to try it)

Mildew smell
I've read that baking soda can help too. But yeah, I have the same problem : having to wait til summer to hang dry outside to really kill the smelly molds

Too far away from the border, sadly, and I don't have an easy access to a car... Lucky you!
