I'm thinking about getting a pair of v6s in this colourway. Love those swede patches. Has anyone put a few miles on a pair of v6s yet?
I also am curious about this as my V5’s will need to be replaced this year
r/newbalance consensus was that they're more comfortable than the v6s
V3 supremacy
any thoughts on which MiUS/UK to pick up? kith 998 / 990v2 40th / 577 flimy legend
ill also take any personal faves recs
I’m partial to Kith colorways, Ronnie always puts out heat.
I've had a pair for a few months now. They blow all the other NBs I've had outta the water comfort wise
Thought the v5s looked like boring v4s, which were just boring v3s
I loved my v3s
Also loving the return of the 998s
I really enjoy my v6s. Theyre very comfortable. They're a little longer than v5s but in my opinion way more comfortable than any of the previous ones. I love them even though they do look a little more goofy. I have the grey day grey/navy pair.
What’s the consensus on 550s for everyday wear?
They're fine but not as comfy as my 991s
New balance 550 are chill. They’re a meme pair of shoes but everything is a meme so who cares
Hey all! I’m more into boots than sneakers (I have a personal aversion to sneaker culture) but I would like a pair of New Balance that works with a raw denim wardrobe. I feel a bit lost when it comes to models… which have a higher quality/which are more comfortable/which are more expensive due to hype. I kind of want to avoid wearing something that’s so overexposed that it won’t age well. Does anyone have any recs?
Right now, I’m looking at the 998 purple model, the 574 in beige, the 996, and the made in UK 576
2002Rs are a good alternative to a lot of the 900-series. 574s in grey are pretty safe. Rainier's are just now coming up.
Many of the shoes on the 99X series are made in the USA or UK which is why they might be more expensive, and not due to hype. I actually am using 996s and 998s s as my dailies. I feel the former is more versatile because it’s less chunky but also not slim. Which color way of the 996 are you liking into?
I was almost into the 998 purples as it’s my favorite color, but otherwise I was interested in beige as that seems to fit most of my outfits. I didn’t really want to own a ton of sneakers, I just wanted one good one when I want to take a break from boots and my Shoes Like Pottery.
I ended up snagging a pair of Junya Wantanabe 574s in beige as I liked the color quite a bit, and I assume that some of those collabs are going to have some more attention to detail. The overall design looks less trendy too.
Thanks! I did get the 574 in beige from Junya. I think they’ll go with most outfits I have!
grey made in the UK 991s are probably my most worn sneaks
along with parchment chuck 70s
Wore these today, U574LGBB
Questioning my sanity at how much I’m surprisingly liking these (???)
At first I wanted these ironically and now I just want them because they look so comfortable
I’ve got two pairs of NBs I’m really fond of. My RC1300s:
And 57/40s:
I also have the ALD 1300s but have a hard time finding fits they work well with. Wish I got the greens 🤷♂️
They’re comfy as hell but idk what to wear them with
Are the V6's about the same width as the V5's?
I wear the niobium’s so much I had to stitch them back up. NB mules are surprisingly wearable
What 574s are these?
574 Legacy in Navy Angora

990v4 or 990v6 Grey Days? Have both sitting at a local shop
This is the most recent grey day? I almost got both but stuck with the v6s. I think the v4s are easier to style but the v6s are tanks and are way more comfortable
Tbh i like the look of the v4s more bc the suede is super hairy and im such a sucker for hairy suede
But i dont regret my choice of going with the v6s

Quick question. I got my Junya 574s in size 9 and it was perfect. I’m eyeing some 998s but not sure if I should go 8.5 or 9
I’m sensing 8.5
I have these, great quality and age well
I wear 11.5 in most NB but have to go up to 12 for 574s. I’d say go 8.5 in your case
Thanks! That’s what I did
TS Marblehead 990v2
Not sure how others feel about the v2s but they were mad uncomfortable for me. I had to swap out the insoles because it felt like walking on bricks.
i am mad tempted by the pink/purple 990v2s (very on sale if anyone wants to cop) https://www.hanon-shop.com/products/new-balance-m990py2

Fingers crossed their QC isn’t atrocious on these
Someone posted concepts 998s with varying heights a couple of weeks back
do you remember where that was posted?
I think the original was off reddit
that's crazy. kinda wanted to see to compare with my pair of 998s (from the last grey day thing). mine seem pretty even
I’d say the above is an extreme case but I’ve definitely felt a slip in consistency with recent releases. I’ve had to return quite a few since the bodega 990v3 because of major glue stains, missing laces, etc
I will say my 998s were thankfully not too crazy. Slightly off N logo maybe but nothing like the pic above
By the way anyone have 576’s and can comment on sizing?
these are gorgeous
here are the 3 pairs i currently own. all super comfortable and wearable with most of my wardrobe, i’m definitely looking to expand the collection. -white and blue USA 990s -grey 574 -black and white USA 997s. will certainly limit my future pairs to made in USA or UK, i can tell the difference in quality and the higher price is worth it to me. Though i did score the black and white 997s on Ebay for sub $100
every single size sold out at 11am EST on the dot on the carhartt, nb, and packer websites. unreal
The Apartment 576s look incredibly clean. These would’ve gone crazy when ALD was popping off

Some NICE Fresh Foams
Gonna guess the mesh is replaced with denim? Imo pretty weak compared to older iterations
I really like the colourblocking
Bottom colorway is nice I agree. I’m probably more biased against 580s
Wish they’d do 1300s again
The top one has a pretty similar vibe to the Bodega 577 Hyprcat and 997s collaborations, which are alltimers imo https://www.complex.com/sneakers/a/mike-destefano/stories-behind-bodega-sneaker-collaborations
The 577 is fantastic
do we have a preference between these 3 very similar v6 models? mostly do workwear in the winter & baggies + tshirt gorpcore in the summer.
on that note the second pic is ALD's first drop of summer v6s: https://www.aimeleondore.com/products/new-balance-made-in-usa-990v6
What color pants do you mostly wear?
I personally like the sepia/tan best out of the 3
for gorpcore, get the first pair and swap the laces to black :ez:
I love this 610 but $180 is a bit much when the standard 610s can be found for like 60 bucks:

and worst prices, unfortunately
Wanted the GR cream ones when they came out but didn’t end up pulling the trigger.
Kinda like the ALD colour blocking better despite basically looking like a GR.
The first ones are growing on me. I’d probably go with these over the other two for day to day wear.
Out of all the pairs of NBs I’ve owned and still have, this colorway of the 574 is always the most worn.
I'm considering the 574 as a comfy office shoe as I am often on my feet but want something fashionable and could be worn casually as well as in the office. Considering these two colourways
The green is the most fun and nostalgic whilst the brown is neutral and less noticeable
I'd recommend looking at other models if you're mostly looking for something comfy
Only get the 574 if you really like the look or price point
Are they not that comfortable?
the 574 was released as a budget casual shoe, so no. Look at their heritage shoes or legacy and modern runners
The green pair is the 574 legacy?
Yea it's slightly more comfortable than the original 574 but not by much
when I say legacy runners I mean stuff like 1906r, 2002r, 860v2, etc.
Shoes that were released as runners with some of their best tech at the time, just updated with modern designs and details
That's fair. I'm sadly not a big fan of those
or I might look at other brands like Veja
Their heritage (Made in USA/UK) line is great but can be pricey
Asics is another option if you want something retro-ish and comfortable
Or you can look at older/legacy runners from Nike and Adidas.
Veja is gonna be barely a step-up from the NB 574
Good to know. I have some Sambas, and they are good for a stylish option on the weekend but not comfortable enough for every day. I usually wear Veja at work, but they're an all-black variant
I beg to differ : 574s were my first pair of NBs and I fell in love with them. For the price point, I think it's hard to find something as confortable. Marshmallow-feel.
But I also agree that their heritage line is wonderful. I bought my first two MiUSA second hand on ebay — 998s and 997s —, and paid about 130$CAD for each pair, in mint condition They are really sturdy and the materials are great. Nice suede, you definitively feel the difference.
You can get older Ultraboosts, Saucony runners, etc. around the same price and those have way better midsoles
998 and 997 aren't known for their comfort either though
990v6, 1080v13, etc. are their top tier stuff for comfort
I do agree that there are more comfortable shoes than the 574s but I haven't found any alternatives that I find as interesting or fashionable IMHO
To each its own. I find my 998s way more confortable than my 990v5s. "Better midsole" doesn't really mean anything, especially since we're not talking about running with those shoes. For everyday wear, you also have to think about other stuff like the fabric quality and feel.
It.. it definitely means something. But yes, comfort is the combination of all that + foot shape + gait + preferences, etc.
I was just making sure he likes the look of the 574 because comfort is not the shoe's selling point. Sure it can be more comfortable than Vans or Converse, but I didn't want him to get a pair of 574 then think all the talk about NB's being comfy is overblown
Yea my 998s have just a way more substantial fit, I’ve had v3s and I have v6s and the 998s just feel the best
I understand the sentiment. I know other NB options would be more comfortable but I wouldn’t enjoy the style as much
:YEP: :YEP:
get what fits your style
I’m not a hardcore trekker either. I usually max out at 5-7km a day if I’m busy, but usually 3-5km
However I should invest in some decent walking shoes in general. I like my sneakers because they’re fashionable but not good after a few kilometres

Just curious how long do folks think the new balance trend is gonna last?
Feels like they’re really at their peak
New Balance peak was definitely a few years ago at this point
All I see these days are Ons and dress sneakers
They’re past their peak but I think they have more staying power than most trend cycle shoes.
They sort of blend in to the background for me and idk if they’ll ever feel dated
Are the Made in UK and Made in USA actually better than the standard shoes?
I wear through a pair of NB shoes about every 8 months or so
But they’re the only brand my mom buys me cuz I have 4 wide feet
That's fast for a pair of shoes, not even a year
Often nicer leather. Beyond that not really - though they are broadly the slightly more "complex" in terms of construction models. More panels, mix of materials etc.
Is the comfort any different?
For the nth time comfort depends on you and the interaction between your feet and the shoe.
yeah i got some nb sneakers on rn and they're super worn out and the back part (idk what its called, over the heel) is split and the insides are poking out making them unwearable without thick wool socks
but then again i walk a lot and only really use one pair of shoes
how much wider are "wide" NBs? Found a deal on a pair bit usually just wear regular width sneakers. I do have wide-ish feet though. They arent gonna look like kleenex boxes I assume ya? Like not ah uge difference?
i bought some wide NBs recently after a fitting for new running shoes, and they don't look weird on my feet
Never tried “wide” fit before but they sound interesting

Based on the charts below, the difference between New Balance shoe widths is 3-4 mm.2E (Wide) should be fine if you have "wide-ish" feet, but 4E (Extra Wide) might be too much
Is it me, or the wide foot version of these looks a bit silly from the wearer's POV
Love the silhouette, but I swear they lose a bit of elegance because of how round and wide they are from above
And I didn't even need them to be this roomy since I'm wearing regular 327s just fine
I finally saw the 475 in person. I don’t like the texture on the outer. Glad I didn’t blind buy
This seems to be a particular kind of suede. I bet it's been brushed to give it this texture. Usually the suede is smoothier (compare the 574 pictures you shared earlier, the green pair doesn't show this fuzzy grain).
Anyone own the NB T500? Likelihood has a 40% off sale, which brings them down to $67 after shipping & taxes. Debating about pulling the trigger. I've never owned a pair of NB and the colorway and price point seem like a good entry into the brand

i don’t own these but generally am a fan of New Balances, i own 4 different models and they’ve held up well for me personally
Btw I got them. They’re wide but mad comfy
Very nice. Do the insoles slide around?
When I tried the 990v6 in store that was the first thing I noticed
But might have been a batch problem
Feels fine to me, wore them from basically 10am - 8pm yesterday with no issues at all.
I've had 6 pairs of NB (574, 997, 998, 990, + two runners) and the fit was pretty much the same except for the 990s v5, which seem wider and maybe a tad longer. Size 10.5 for each pair.
I was annoyed by the 990s fit (too roomy) until I switched to heel lock lacing. Since then I love them; roomy enough for thick socks, but I can also tighten the laces and secure my heels for light socks. Feets not sliding anymore.
Hol’up, 574s with Cordura?? https://www.newbalance.com.au/pd/574/U574V2-47204.html?dwvar_U574V2-47204_style=U574SOA#
They've used cordura on a lot of their shoes
Cool, didn’t know that they did
Does anyone know if New Balance does Black Friday sales? Girlfriend found some NB at an outlet but she didnt get them so I want to get them for her for Christmas as a present
If they don't I"m sure one of their ten million stockists do. Seek out the shoe at some stores around you and see wha happens.
For sure, that is my plan B. DSW carries the NB shoe my gf wants and I bet they will do something
I dropped by New Balance outlet this morning and while they aren't 100% certain, they think they will have 40% off all shoes for Black Friday. If you have an outlet nearby and know NB carries something you want at the outlet, might be worth popping in early
