Figuring out what you like
I want to second what carrion has said, dressing purely based on the job you do or hobbies you engage in sounds extremely restrictive. I love workwear/americana/westernwear despite having neither a job or hobbies in these areas. Wear things because you love them and make you feel happy & confident, not because they are related to your job.

if there are stores near you where you bought the jeans, you could always wear your boots to the store and try on different cuts of jeans. See which you like best with the boots

Cool, I agree with ayoqna this is a better combination colour wise. The main thing is do you like it and does it make you feel good to wear it
