Lady White T-Shirts: What really makes a T-Shirt worth this much money?
Evening folks, I'm starting to get into my prime basic fit (jeans and a tshirt) and since I have a LITTLE MORE disposable income as an adult, I started watching videos that eventually led me down to what the Iron Snail calls more or less a 'perfect tshirt'
https://ladywhiteco.com/products/our-t-shirt-2-pack-black-white
I've never heard of Lady White, or any specialty tshirt brand, but after learning about these shirts I decided to go and get one off the used market for about $50. In malls, tops can cost more than $100 easy, but I'm not into fast fashion and I tend to worry over anything I buy that is more than $100 bucks.
So, did I make a good purchase? And what about these shirts can make them cost upwards of $120 a pair / $120 a shirt in some cases?

You did great honey
they are very nice shirts lots of people here love them, i own one and like it a lot
cost mostly comes down to quality and production methods, they are going to be using nicer cotton that is grown in the US, all of the knitting sewing and stuff happens in LA and the tees are very very nice it all adds up to end cost
also they use some specific knitting processes on the fabric that are slower and harder to do
Oh whatup oman
I was mostly considering them because I live in La and could check out their shops
they were unfortunately closed due to some sort of emergency this weekend though
so I guess I am privileged to be in t he same town. I just .. idk man. 120 bucks..! It still stings
Id say it this way but the perfect t-shirt / perfect clothing is very dependent person by person. The “perfect shirt” might not have the proper fit or feel youd like it to have.
Like oman said alot of the price can be attributed to the type of material used and the production cost associated with it.
I think many are disillusioned to how cheap t-shirts can be due to mass production and cheap labour, but generally tshirts being 60 usd and up isnt unreasonable.
Loopwheeled shirts for example
are super expensive because theres only 1-3 factories in japan left that even produce that specific type of knit
It definitely is a privilege to be able to enjoy this hobby but you should take full advantage of it and see what resonates with you personally
I see stuff costing that much in department stores so I dont think it's unreasonable too much
I dont think I've ever had loopwheel before, so we'll see how this feels
Yeah feel is important so definitely go try things on and have fun
But alright, lady white not a bad place to start then
with premium tshirts
Considering all I wear is Uniqlo Oversized Arism
I'm in a similar quest right now and definitely share hesitation on spending that much for one shirt. I decided to pursue some of the cheaper options (>$60, not exactly cheap) first to see how they performed. Still waiting on Whitesville and Bronson MFG T shirts to arrive, but I can tell you that Buck Mason Field Spec shirts are excellent, a night and day difference from cheap Uniqlo ones. Opinions will vary, though. I was completely unimpressed by Asket T shirts but many people swear by them.
asket is meh
imo
the cotton is nice but it just doesnt have the feel
I found them to be inferior to $20 BR supima cotton Ts
I dont like my lady white t shirt and for me its a testimony of how "buying expensive things cause the internet liked them" is not the end game. I prefer my uniqlo u t shirts
The only “expensive t shirts” I truly like more than my normal tees is my warehouse tee and my Imogene and Willie . I still don’t think I’d buy the warehouse again because I’m a graphic tee guy.
And otherwise I just get cheap Hanes
honestly i went down the pricey t-shirt rabbit hole only to switch to a kirkland blank
Another option are Comfort Colors heavyweight blanks. I have one as my "reference point" for trying out more expensive ones. A few months in and it's holding up well.
That model on the link looks bad
can fit two of his arms in those sleeves
Respectfully it looks great, that’s entirely a personal preference of how big you like sleeves to be
Interesting. Looks so sloppy
lol
young people...
if you have nothing worthwhile to add how about saying nothing at all?
My opinion is as worthwhile as yours
I prefer classic fashion fits
I don't see how this is advice for walker but thanks for sharing!
I'm agreeing I don't see how it's with the money with that fit
No need to be a dick
It’s a nice shirt that’s made in the us with materials sourced in the us
And saying a shirt someone has already bought looks sloppy is so kind!
That’s why it costs that much money
I like iron snail fwiw and the way he fits things
That website look however...
it costs more bc its got so much extra material around the arm holes
Actual lol
james dean would never right fellas?
You are in a thread shitting on something someone else likes because you don’t like it and we’re acting like dicks?
He's asking if he made a good purchase
Is the opinion that this website has a bad fit not valid?
It’s not productive
Yeah
It’s just a tshirt 😭
Yeah no biggie
I think the fit looks off
That's it
No need to get pissed
If you want to ask ‘what’s the big deal with these young kids and their big clothes’ make your own thread and I’ll be happy to talk you through some of it

Fair
I think this q&a has been derailed enough at this point
