Help with new suit
I haven’t decided on S150s at all. I just want to know how much I’m giving up if I go lower. I’d really rather spend less than $1,000 but am willing to go above that if I have to in order to get something that looks good and fits well. I’m also more than willing to spend less, of course, if there’s something of good quality at that price point.

Cashmere or wool overcoat (or blend)?
No, I don’t really have a best fit coat to measure. I recently lost nearly 40 pounds, and I lost my “too big” coat from before anyway. I have a couple of suits that fit OK but that’s as close as I have at this point; I’d be happy to reach out to them if you think they could help for sure.
I had to laugh when you mentioned Indochino, it seems like you’d have to actively go out of your way to have a reputation as bad as they have.
I’m open to anything that’s on the dressier side and warm enough; the point is for it to be something I wear to work and church. I usually dress in business casual but might occasionally wear it with jeans or with a suit.

Cashmere or wool overcoat (or blend)?
My reason for looking at Suit Supply is that they make stuff to measure. I haven’t found many other places that do that, and given my body proportions (tall, thin, really long arms), just buying something off the rack will probably result in a poor fit, either too big around the middle with arms that fit or a good fit around the middle with short arms. For example, I’d probably be a Small using S.E.H Kelly’s sizes, but I’d probably need sleeves 1-2” longer than the 34”sleeves on their Small size.
Of course, as much as I don’t want to spend a ton of money on something that does not fit, I also don’t want to spend a ton of money on something that is poor quality…

is it worth it to buy a suit if I am actively trying to lose weight?
Your suit size is going to change if you lose that much weight. From personal experience, I’m 6’3” and lost 40 pounds resulting in me going from 44L to 38L. Get something cheap for now if you must, and wait to get something nice until after you have lost the weight.
