Faster alternative to dynmap?
The fastest option would likely be Pl3xMap, although I have a beasty processor ( 7950X3D ) it managed to render a 10000x10000 map in minutes. You lose some quality but the speed is quite a bit better.

Best world size (pre-gen and border)
I normally use a radius of 15000 blocks and then expand if players need more, as for the shape I would recommend a circle since it looks the best on map plugins like dynmap.

Question: What should I go with?
I would recommend getting a VPS from Hetzner's server auction list. My personal recommendation would be a Intel i9 9900K with 128GB of ram and an M.2 NVME DISK. Depending on where you live this will cost you around 50$ a month but it will allow you to host MULTIPLE servers with that many people. If you need any more help DM me.
