Where the hell am I supposed to get players?
I tried: Mc Server lists, PlanetMC, Youtube Shorts, TikTok, but everything to no avail. 99% of players who join complain that there are no players and leave 3 seconds later. My TikTok and YT videos get 3 views at most. I am very close to shutting the server down. Any tips?

Could you elaborate on the type of server you are running?
It is a survival server with some RPG elements like dungeons, custom armor, items and more. So a semiRPG server.
We were supposed to launch skyblock but we have no players so we don't see the point.
you need to be consistent. not advertise one time and be thats it. you need to be dedicated if you are not already.
furthermore being on tiktok yt short vote site is a first step very nice.
i would recommend working on the quality of the video. if the quality is bad they will not bother to join.
another way you could perhaps do a small giveaway and make the requirement to join and do a certain task like get iron gear. this way they might join and try it out. and maybe stay in your server.
You could also use statistics.
make a panel using deluxe menus or command panels
when a new user join they may do /refer and select the option of which platform they saw your server and joined from. ( and give them a tiny reward for it )
then you can use statistics to see oh 20% come from youtube 15% from tiktok lets focus on that why is this percent low lets fix it @realdody
Another good way if it is possible maybe try to see if a youtuber with decent sub count and view count can stream on your server this helps a lot aswell
I only started tiktok/yt advertising after the server died
So 0 players from those sources so far
see this is bad
lets say someone join from youtube
he see 0 player he leave
you should always try to bring players even if its full
Wdym?
this can be good
so is this
i mean you dont advertise when the server die.
you have to do so when its active
so when people come from youtube they see its active they stay
if they come and see its dead they will obviously leave
I’ve always gotten players in a discord before creating the server and hype it up so you have some players on release
yeah it can work i did that in my 12k member server
This is what sounds the best to me, but idk how to find youtubers with small sub counts and how to contact them when they don't have a business email linked to their channel.
first try by doing the statistics part
it helps a LOT
like you can see which site bring no player
and investigate on why and fix it
maybe its not shown well maybe its bad maybe its not made in a good way
you can always find youtubers really
minecraft server have over 1 million member you can easily find a youtuber here
if you want to
The Minecraft discord server?
that server has a million user
dont advertise their its against their rule
but you can perhaps find a youtuber looking for a server
who knows
Well I'll check it out
good luck
I hate to say this but survival with RPG elements such as custom items or mobs are extremely common these days. I was running a similar server and the sheer amount of servers that are quite literally clones, made it unrealistic for me to continue pursuing. I'm trying something else now that is more unique.
My advice:
Keep the existing elements, especially if you like them. Innovate and create something unique your server has that'll retain folks and is unlikely to be found elsewhere. A VRIO analysis is valuable, especially for this sort of industry.
I'd say try to find an immediate thematic hook to bring people in, or an immediate mechanical difference between your server and others.
Maybe you add a custom smithing system example:https://mcmodels.net/model/blacksmith-pack/
Maybe your server has some lore behind why there are dungeons. Maybe there are several different factions fighting for control of the world? Maybe there is an overarching plotline? Maybe every month you have a major server event players can participate in which pushes the storyline forward and introduces new dungeons?
And lastly, hire staff. Any moderators, any builders, whoever. People will stay to be staff and that'll give you people online. End of the day, if they really aren't a good fit, let go of them later once you find better options. Bottom line is they could help you grow and retain players. 🤷
a very well written message
Gonna go a different way then the others. Being unique just isn't going to happen. There are too many servers, none of us has ever had a unique to us idea when it comes to MC unless you're hiring completely custom mods/plugins. If you're downloading off Spigot, Bukkit, Polymart, Modrinth, etc then so are others.
If you're only keeping the server open in search of having tons of players, then statistically that just wont happen. You have to make the server because you like the work and enjoy doing it, and maybe players come along and see that.
