So it seems that the computational cost for a set lod render distance is occurring at all times? If that's the case though why is only the CPU taking the hit?

No difference in performance if I go to an SP world that is actually rendering the 256 chunks.

Went through each quality setting, and an impact on temps and usage only starts at High and above.

Temperature and usage is rising in accordance with the distance value, but no additional chunks are actually being generated or rendered.

I had the DH distance set to 256, but I've only loaded around 8 chunks in a radius outside of my render distance.
So I lowered the number to 32, and temps instantly dropped to the usual 48C.

So the main source is just having the LOD's Rendering, but even with generation and rendering off, temps are 12C higher than usual.
I have to leave and rejoin the world after toggling the option for the thread to stop, so I never caught it before.
