Converting 1440p stream from Live-U into 4 cropped 720p Streams
I visited my local computer store for insights on encoding performance (Intel QSV vs. discrete, NVENC on 1080 vs. 4060), but didn't get much help. I'm working on a niche livestreaming setup and would appreciate feedback, apologize for the long-winded post. Context: I livestream local boxing events, recently covering a tournament with 4 concurrent rings. I used SDI to HDMI capture, looped through a BMD multiview, and sent the HDMI to an ATEM Mini ISO. Both feeds went into my laptop with 2 USB capture cards, into OBS, which was sent via HDMI out to a Live-U Solo. I'm transitioning to a 2-PC setup: one local (capture PC) and one remote (stream PC, accessed via Parsec). The local PC will use OBS with Source Record to capture each ring's feed and record locally. The remote PC will stream the 4 individual rings to separate RTMP streams using 4 OBS portable sessions. and if the PC can handle it, I’ll also do back up recordings for each ring. I currently run a Ryzen 2600 and GTX 1080 which I think should be enough for the local PC. For the remote PC, I'm considering an Intel I7 CPU with an IGPU and GTX 4060. I thought about using Shadow for cloud computing but feel Parsecing into a PC I built would best. The streams would likely be HEVC, unless AV1 support becomes more mainstream on platforms in the short-term. If anyone has any thoughts or feedback on if my idea will work, or how I should handle the encoding Id really appreciate it! I am not opposed to splitting the encoding with both the CPU and GPU but not sure what is best.
