first loafers, for wider feet
How should I go about getting my first pair of loafers when I've got wider feet and I'm not confident about sizing? But I'd still really like them to be snugly comfortable, to fit more closely than other shoes I have. I've gotten measured in a Brannock device at a few stores lately - clearly I have slightly shorter feet than 9, and probably I'm looking at EE. Though could be E, or could be wider afaik.
If I was feeling better about sizing I'd absolutely consider Rancourt after seeing https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1261290741217628170/1261290741217628170
For in person stores there's Allen Edmonds I can get to at some point (though not too interested in buying there, and their newer shoes that'll be in stock jump from D to EEE) and that's likely it. I'm leery of getting budget options like GH Bass and LL Bean - I often dislike how the leather looks on those, and I'd be worried about size/wear all the more - but maybe some suggestions in that direction could help.

Blazer/suit jacket/etc sizing
I've been hunting around for blazers (foremost) and sport coats and suits, mainly at vintage and thrift stores - but I think by now I've tried on quite a good variety of popular brands and old tailoring - for the last several months, and reading about all of this plenty.
Over time I've gotten more and more concerned that it might be quite difficult to find anything OTR that fits in the shoulders/top block, and is not much too large in the chest/waist - two or more sizes larger, I assume well beyond the scope of looseness or alterations a tailor can make. (wouldn't mind posting my measurements if that'll help.)
Some things here and there on eBay list measurements that maybe could work, but in person everything I've tried that fits my shoulder size is quite baggy, usually with the length way off as well. Lot of RL, Brooks Brothers, Jos A Bank, etc out there. Haven't taken any useful pictures since I'd been assuming I'll find better / been in very small fitting rooms.
I've seen some rather sweeping advice to not go MTM first, here in particular! But, should I start thinking I may need to do something like that to get any kind of jacket that fits? How can I expect that to go? Sounds really daunting esp. without any even OK reference garment.
Should I let's say, change my expectations for how loose jackets should be? I don't think I'm keen on that... And any ideas otherwise? Anything I might be wrong about / missing?

Chicago thrift stores etc
I'll be in Chicago (mainly north side and northern suburbs) next month for a few days, any recommendations of thrift stores with good vintage stuff, vintage stores, or otherwise?
Planning to go to the stores in Lakeview, a Village Discount or two. Maybe Richard's Finds. It'll all depend on what else I'm doing ofc, some places I might have to save for next time

where to get chinos?
Looking for some fairly comfortable pants that'll be an anchor item so to speak. I don't like pants that are too low rising, and I love the look of old high rise pants but haven't worn them much. On a budget which I can stretch but I'm a little hesitant to spend a lot at this early stage, and I'd need to feel confident the item is worth it.
And my experience is, everywhere I look in person - big brands, thrifts, etc - I can't find any pants of any category I try that fit me at all! I'm 〜35x32 (I think, I'll measure again later); I don't like blue jeans so I don't try them. Very hesitant to order online but idk, are there brands where that's more feasible?
maybe this frustration just is how it is?
If so thanks for hearing me vent about it 🤣
