Favorite series: socks - Topic of the day 12/26/24

Stick out with your socks! Stance isn’t for Honda Civics anymore if you can wear them on your feet. Happy socks make happy man, and you are the benefactor. When do you wear the Mona Lisa socks you got that one year for white elephant? What are you favorite brands? Or do you not wear them at all?

Darn Tough the alignment of everything you could want in a sock except the most luxury materials (no cashmere etc) - the durability is excellent and their lifetime guarantee, if a little quirky (you send stuff in and get store credit for it), actually holds/works sure you can get softer or prettier socks, but it's just The Brand for socks and they somehow still make the fuckers in Vermont

as a person who can barely hold attention long enough to organize any clothes, matching socks is out of the question so I appreciate have alot of socks which are the same make (not necessarily color) so I can just dig around and grab two easily. Not fancy, pretty, or even really nice, but my favorite socks were a pack of like 12 from marshalls- stanley mid-weight socks in various shades of grey and feel nice on my feet. They are great but I fear I may never find another pack to replace my stock

I am an american trench stan. I would love to try dt, rototo, or anonymousism at some point, but american trench is already on the upper end of what I'd pay for socks.

I’ve worn Corgi Socks for a few years now, they’re great tbh, no complaints. I buy a multipack type mystery box for their Black Friday sale occasionally

I'm a fan of Point6. Excellent quality merino socks, MiUSA, lifetime warranty, and relatively affordable since members get 50% off.

i’m looking to get some darn toughs, but i do have three pairs of north 40’s in-house brand noble outfitters and those are arguably the best boot socks i’ve ever had i wear them exclusively for work atm

Close the thread For running I wear 1000miles or toe socks but Im not sure even then that DT wouldn't be better

I always just buy the all-black "tactical" line DT - it's wool blend with some stretch, still warrantied, but is extremely simple and comfortable etc etc etc I've got the basically unpadded ones and the heavy padding big boot ones and everything in between

I love socks. American Trench, Rototo, Viccel, Kirkland women’s merino, Darn Tough, Smartwool, Corgi, Mes Chausettes Rouges, CozySocks, and Pantherella all get some wear from me. Anyonymousism are nice, but they don’t really feel good if you’re wearing actual shoes or boots. Much better as a walking around the house in PJs sock

My favorite socks are alpaca socks A lot of my regular wool socks have speedrun getting holes in them Darn Tough is generally okay. I live close to vermont so I usually only get them when I go up there

Darn Tough quality definitely has been going down but its still good and the lifetime warranty ameliorates that. Still, it's sad to ship in some of my older ones and get lower quality replacements, especially for the no shows I've been wanting to try Point6 as a replacement but the shipping is fairly high and I have enough Darn Tough socks to not need more. They also have lifetime warranty How are they compared to Darn Tough?

i guess i am that person that cycles through a hanes 12 pack every so often that plus a couple of uniqlo's 50 colorful socks and a pair of wool ones for winter (still using my old smartwool socks) and i'm set might replace a few with le bonne shoppe socks if they ever go on sale

I have gone on a journey trying out various fancy sock brands. At some point I had like 10-15 pairs of Anonymousisms. I have almost entirely reverted back to Uniqlo, plus a few Muji and Darn Tough pairs thrown in there. They just work. J.Crew's zigzag socks are nice too when they go on sale for like $3. They recently added a few more colors.

I've been cycling out older socks for mainly wool blend: Point6, Smartwool, and Darn Tough With that said I've purchased a ton on New Balance socks from black Friday. I'll be wearing them in summer Point6 is similar I guess? I own a few pairs but like only for the past year or two. They haven't passed the test of wearing constantly for years. I agree shipping is a bitch tho

I have some puma socks that I bought from Costco 5 or 6 years ago that are still going strong, although I've been wearing a lot of the Uniqlo colorful socks lately (primarily in the less colorful gray and black colors). The Uniqlo socks don't make my feet sweat and they work pretty well with what I wear (sneakers + boots)

I love the sock wall at :uniqlo: for all the different colors. Not the greatest quality, though, if I'm honest.

Uniqlo socks have probably been my most durable socks tbh

I like SmartWool too. I should probably try Darn Tough for comparison tho.

yeah and not actually very warm, weirdly I just have them bc they're cheap OTC socks and because they had tabi versions from a collab
