2024 Wrapped - Topic of the day 12/11/24
2024 was certainly a year that happened, huh? Let's get into it (by "it" I mean "clothes"). What are some of your favorite fits you've worn or seen in 2024? What items and brands have you gotten into or fallen out of love with? How are you feeling about clothes and/or fashion going into 2025? (note: I am not affiliated with Spotify or know who MJ Lenderman is.)

For me and seemingly lots of people its been the year of lemaire
I think vintage armani is big but i cant tell if thats a big force yet or if its mainly new designs that are clearly inspired by it that people are in to
Like current ysl or lemaire
Its possible that thats all just where my head is at cause thats what ive been liking recently!
I think dries maybe is losing its steam post-dries leaving
I have certainly been less interested
I'm gonna rip Dual IPA's take from this and say that I've noticed more really online fashion dudes being into small, limited-run brands that really value unique fabric and manufacturing procedures to make themselves stand out. Evan Kinori stands out to me as the archetypal example of this cult brand and it speaks to people wanting a unique experience with their wardrobe based on scarcity. Every run feels like a set of collector's items for a reason related to the artistry rather than conveying status.
makin more of a streetwear pivot for 2025 i can feel it
I’d like to use this opportunity to repost some of my favorites from what I’ve worn, as well as what others have worn.
I’ve noticed that in the second half of 2024 I got to a point where I had figured out what about my personal style I like best and tried to develop my fits further in that direction. I managed to care less about the tagged size of garments and more about how I looked and felt in them, which was hard at first but did some good stuff for me mentally.
But I’ve been on my same old bullshit for a while now 🙂

I think these are my best/most impactful on my end fits of the year, been working on colourblocking more and minmaxing patterns and textures more to effectively convey the fit message that I want. Definitely leaving 2024 a better dresser than when I started it.
2024 has been interesting for me in terms of fashion, as this is the year that I discovered fashion as a hobby. I started discovering what my style is, I tried on new clothes (denim jacket, chinos, khakis), and I started an inspiration album
So in short, it's been pretty good for me in terms of fashion.
My favourites from here for the year
While fashion was at the back of my mind the last years, slowly getting to the forefront, the last year was the year I "really" got into it as a hobby, partially bc i got my first real job and had more opportunities to experiment. The year started with me getting a foolish orange corduroy mtm suit (canon event!) and developed from there. While I initially started out pretty Ivy adjacent I developed more into the westernwear niche, trying to go for some urban cowpoke kinda thing.
overall plenty of failed experiments but also some bangers and a loot of knowledge gained about what I like and how I want stuff to fit.
Summer was a bit of a failure, because I keep neglecting my summer wardrobe. Definitely need a few more summer-specific garments for next year to spice things up.
Generally im relatively happy with were Im at rn, but Im hoping to add a bit more colour and whimsy to the mix. I feel like i got all my bases covered and now its time to add some loud statement pieces.
Anyway, here are some pics of my fits throughout the year. Will post fits that inspired me separately in a sec.
And here are my top ten inspo pics that have been sustainably harvested from #waywt - deciding which to pic was extremely hard though!
If im picking my top 5 they would be these!
Throwing in 5 more, I'm vain!
also ive become more confident w my body and not needing to drown it in huge clothes this year and i will probably be trending towards experimenting with contrast in silhouette vs everything big all the time
i had a similar shift in mindset on body image but that led to the opposite conclusion lol, that i didn't need to wear overly tight or form fitting stuff just because i could fit or afford it, and that there's merit in wide/wider fit stuff even if it obscures the physique
beyond that it was a case of re-learning about clothes as a way to learn about myself, what i liked, what i valued, and how i could convey that intentionally. i'm still learning, which is cool, though i've nearly ruled out a rick turn at this point

This year marks the first one I’ve really invested into style thoughtfully, though I’m still very much getting my bearings. Stumbling upon this discord server has been fantastic in this regard. I’m affected by how this community has seemingly cultivated such mindful people and not merely in the realm of fashion. I often find wise and interesting perspective about culture more generally.
In terms of fits, you’ll find none from me (yet!). I plan on rectifying this next year. I don’t think I can point to specific fits that have been inspirational in others, but I’d say that I’m most often motivated by those posted from @Shrimp my Ride , @jawntanamo_bae , @Elvander and @Weeg (hopefully you’ll all forgive if perhaps not appreciate the pings!)
Thanks for being such a welcoming community!
I think for 2025 I'd want to continue on working on my style
Kinda ivy, kinda western, somewhat art
For next year I also want to improve my fits :linkBow:
That last one's a bit tricky since it's pretty vague
how I'd want to improve it is still up in the air
As for measuring progress, well that's easy, #waywt
i think i spent the past year learning how to dress well, and now i'm learning how to dress like myself. learning rules to break them, etc.
Oh dang sad to see this thread kinda died
I joined the server very late 2023 so really this year has born the brunt of my interest in clothes
I threw a bunch of shit at the wall, and really got more comfortable with the idea of just getting the thing that I wanted instead of settling for buying 3 or 4 things for cheaper just so I could say I had more
A lot of my fits from earlier this year already feel like they don’t work for me as well, but I can point to why and that feels like a huge win
This year was where the pieces started to come together for me, so to speak. Before I was more picking up new clothing with a shotgun approach, where if it appealed to me in an image, I would pick it up without much regard for whether it actually fit into my general idea of what my style was, and that meant I ended up picking up some duds that I haven’t really gotten much use out of. (But, oddly enough, some pieces that I picked up early on I do end up much more now, although it’s as if I look at them with new eyes and work them into fits I wouldn’t have even imagined last year).
Kind of the exact opposite of what I just said, but I’ve also accepted that I don’t need to categorize my style. I’ve never limited myself to specific brands, but there were times when I would find myself questioning a new piece I wanted to incorporate because it didn’t fit into my idea of a certain style I was trying to embody (e.g. it was too ivy, or too gorpy, or whatever). At a certain point I stopped doing that and let myself just try what I wanted to try, because dressing is ultimately for “me”, and my style is a reflection of “me”. Getting to this point required some work because I needed to understand who “me” was before I could make these informed decisions, but now I feel confident looking at something new and being able to tell whether they would help me further express my style.
A big part of working my way forward was 1. Actually putting my shit on, even when I’m not going out that day, so I can actually get use out of my clothes and know what I like and don’t like on me, and 2. Witnessing others, in person, and through social media (WAYWT and Instagram, which I finally got just this year) to see what’s out there and everyone’s creativity in putting it all together. It’s gotten me to the point of feeling excited about my wardrobe and what I put on even day to day.
I’m working to engage more in WAYWT and MFAD generally so that I can continue to get feedback, since I can’t grow in a vacuum. But social anxiety is a real jerk sometimes!
My pants got wider, my orders got proxier, my pic-taking skills remain shitty.
Luv this for u
Ngl, you were a big inspo in my lurking days (honorable mention s/o to Pesty, Seth, Dang and Epistrophy)
Thanks brother I’m v much still figuring it out as well
yeah while we're here, cirque ur a really big source of inspo for me as well :blushcatto:
:blushiecat2:
U can always shoot me a dm!
this is the year where i really started to take a step back. how i dress has become relatively uniform (by my own standards), and i’m no longer seeking new brands or clothes to update what i have. i have nothing to prove tbh. i’m challenging myself to a low-buy year in 2025
truthfully i’m not a fan of discord as a medium for fashion discussion so i think MFA’s departure from reddit accelerated what i think has been going on for the last couple years of my life wrt clothes and all the consuming that comes with it
I’ve been kinda all over the place this year. Stints where I was really into dressing and months where I’ve just been on auto pilot and have no interest in taking fit pics which is dislike.
I’m seeing lots of cool clothes and fits but haven’t found ways to make it land for me. Just kinda in a rut I think 😔
my first true love affair with fashion was technical clothing—outlier, veilance, acronym, etc. after about 4 years of being obsessed with that look/aesthetic, ive felt myself being pulled in a different direction this past year.
i feel my look is changing to something darker, more textured, and more extreme. I’ve especially pushed shape harder and have been very humbled with how easy it is to brick fits, but that’s all part of the learning for me
Ur jeans stack so well cata
ty :))
those stacky ones i wear a lot are duckstacks from outlier, they have a 53.5” inseam and really subtle flare, perfect shape for me
i rly want to get bolan from rick but they spenny
If 2023 for me was about just being introduced to fashion , this year was mostly focusing on refining what parts of it I like. I didn't really buy much. In fact, In keeping with my theme, I sold a lot more than I bought. Mostly, I'm trying to figure out what I would like my style to reflect about me, and refine and iterate on that.
Over the past year, I’ve narrowed down the main style(s) I am interested in. I really enjoy the EG vibe, along with milsurp, workwear, and ivy elements, which I guess are all tied into EG anyways.
I might need to refine a bit because I think there are outlying pieces/outfit concepts in my wardrobe still. But maybe that’s ok if I enjoy them and maybe I don’t have to think in such a homogenized way and should just wear them? I’ll probably make a thread exploring this for myself and get input from others here.
I’ve only started posting outfits more consistently the past month or so but will continue. This one was a favorite of mine
This just in: standing w hands in your pockets makes you look cool af
2024 was the year I realized that I started making an effort to dress better. At the same time, I mostly tried to dress for my now ex. In 2025 I plan on dressing for myself, improving my personal style, and wearing more things that I want to wear/enjoy wearing.
Hopefully this server can help with that :)
This past year things really started clicking for me. Obviously still learning a lot and trying things out, but I have a better sense of direction now.
Sadly had to let go of some pieces that didn’t fit me anymore (rip Kody Phillips curve jeans), but the anglan pants I got from Casey are definitely a favorite of mine. Also been wearing the A-2 jacket I picked up recently a lot.
I think I’ve cooled off on engineered garments a bit after trying a few of their pieces.
Sillage and Yohji are brands I’ve been looking at lately and might pull the trigger on this coming year, who knows.
Here are some of my favorite fits from the past year
yohji barto is what i need
I need to get my money up first 😭 💀
