Return Policies - Topic of the day 11/28/24
What do you think of return policies? Will you buy an item if it doesn’t have an easy return policy? Do you commonly return items? Will you buy a final sale item?

I hate people who buy 5 items for the sole purpose of trying them on and returning 4
I've been into fashion for almost a decade and I've never returned anything
Just get gud
I just assume they're all final sale based on my past history of laziness
"Check out my HUGE closet cleaning sale"
I’ve only ever returned stuff where the measurements weren’t as listed
shut up
(Once)
if you sit on items you like for a couple weeks and take longer to pull the trigger, you will (hopefully) enjoy a bigger portion of the stuff you buy and return less often.
also knowing not just measurements but which ones are important, like shoulders on tops and tailoring or rise on pants
only time i've returned something was a suit off ebay, which had fit issues with the arm socket that i couldn't glean from the measurements
I’ll only buy Final Sale if it’s something I’ve tried on before or trust the measurements.
otherwise measure twice cop once
Retuned one thing because I didn’t know how to measure, and it was the first pair of pants I bought online
Been good sense them
Only things I've ever really returned were Ssense purchases
In Europe you got a blanket 14 day return policy on online purchases (provided the thing has not been worn beyond trying it on). And I definitely have been making use of that a few times, though I try to limit it. But it is useful for shoes, where measurements are not that helpful and generally to nail the fit of a garment when inbetween sizes.
Like you order the two closest sizes and see which one works best.
I don’t like it, but I’m with Leo in that buying shoes online has been tough, but it’s hard to get somewhere to try stuff on
I buy almost all my stuff second hand and theres generally no return policy unless its fucked, so I think a bunch longer before actually buying stuff
When everything you buy is from ebay or an ig seller and final sale you never even consider a return policy lol
Yeah, there is literally no decent shoe store in my town - the only ones existing sell plastic junk
I returned an seh kelly jacket once because it wasn't the colour I expected and the inconvenience I caused still haunts me.
Surprised to hear the above. Absolutely critical in my eyes if you are selling online and places with annoying/weak return policies simply do not get my business. In store is a bit different, but it can be near-impossible to tell true sizing until you are familiar with the brand. I'm not paying a $15 restock fee because someone decided 34 inches is actually 38 inches, etc.
well like digs said, for people who buy the majority of their stuff secondhand returns just don't exist lol
some 20 year old student selling his old clothes out of his bedroom is not taking returns
Yeah. Which can be painful sometimes. Because "know your measurements" is important, but if you just don't have a garment that resembles the one you are looking for closely enough it only gets you that far.
From an economic perspective I feel absolutely no guilt about making the occasional return. Usually that eventuality is already priced-in so to speak.
I still think one should keep it to a minimum for enviromental reasons.
Usually if I buy anything it’s on final sale, clearance or otherwise marked down, I mainly shop discount stores like Nordstrom Rack and outlet stores, if I decide to buy it I have lalready decided to keep it. I bought a pair of Clark’s desert boots once and returned them the same day, and the Clark’s clerks were rude so I’ve never gone back
But watch out!
Good idea I'll go steal a watch
My anxiety has me paranoid that my return will somehow be damaged or have a stray cat hair or something which will be unacceptable and subject me to a world of misery and embarrassment, therefore I rarely return stuff. Also I’ve been good at buying stuff I’m pretty confident in
If i buy I bought something thst goes on sale 2 weeks later best believe ill buy it again and return the new one as the old
Fraud :sunglas:
many stores do price adjustments anyway within 90 days
