White - you see it in snow, chalk, milk, clouds, and the Basic Bastard wardrobe. It often symbolizes purity, cleanliness, perfection, starkness or new beginnings and is a common color to wedding dresses and civic or religious buildings. What are your thoughts on white, and how does it fit into your wardrobe?

adding just a couple pairs of white/off-white pants (pleated linen cotton chinos and stan ray painters) to my wardrobe unlocked more outfits for me than any other purchase in the past year

I used to think white undershirts looked cheap for some reason, but now I really appreciate the bright crisp contrast of a white shirt under a button up
Too sweaty for white shirts, touch too much grass for white pants
white/ecru pants are a great exercise in letting go and accepting that your clothes will get dirty no matter what you do. at least for casual stuff

I eat too much curry to have much white clothing

White pants especially feel like something that is somewhat slept on but almost always hits

All white/ecru Canadian tuxedo would be interesting to see
me in an all white fit will obviously bring certain cultist connotations but i like how the starkness gives a more normal look some interest
White shirts are interesting to me because they can give off really strong corporate or workwear vibes depending on context.
White OCBD or broadcloth with a dark suit or sport coat is peak generic finance/law. White tee with denim is peak workwear. White OCBD with denim can swing both ways depending on overall context
Yeah. Im still somewhat uncertain if I want more of a cropped trucker jacket or more of a chore coat..
I can't remember where I first read it — maybe Permanent Style — but when I realized that ecru denim was as versatile as dark denim, it changed my life. Everything looks better. It also started me on the path of getting a lot more brown stuff, which looks great with ecru (which is essentially a very light brown)
And "natural" cotton has that lovely fleck thing going on. Can't get enough of it.

And theyre pretty heavy so not so hot for the warm weather

there's some stains that're more obvious irl on the sleeve
for those who like white but are spooked by the stain, oxiclean works wonders
or dawn or baking soda + paste...really as long as you're dealing with any stain when it happens you're probably fine

Yeah I managed to get chili oil out of a tee with that, and chili oil stains everything
Once a year I’ll just run all my white tees through the wash with a little bleach
as a treat
