Let's take a break from posting great inspo for a sec. What is the worst fit you've ever seen? What makes it so bad? Is there a way to improve it? If you post anyone here I will ban you.

This has been talked about many times on here but Ssense styling is so fucking bad. It makes me second guess buying stuff from them sometimes cause i’m like shit maybe its not as cool a shirt as i thought

I’d be interested to see connotations that people are trying to avoid more than just bricks
there are alot of things I learn from by seeing and analyzing how they don't work. But "hate" is kind of the opposite of inspo for me. Unless its someone I dont want to be like on a personal level

Things you may not even think of negatively just not as “you”
How do i wear a cowboy hat and not think i look like a dumbass
I think cowboy hats look great on other people but when i put one on it never feels like it looks right
Honestly for me a lot of it is working on challenging myself to not try to blend into the background. But also I dont really want to evoke prep too much I guess?

there are alot of things which I've been turned around on through exposire, like 10 years ago I would have "hated" anything ivy related, chinos, button downs, and chunky sneaker like new balance etc. Still do not feel like they are for me entirely but im less rigid in how I think about them since other people do it convincingly

My anti inspo in a nutshell
I just physically cringe when I see people wearing super slim, restrictive clothing nowadays. Especially if it's super polyester, (I.E anything by this brand https://www.birddogs.com/products/lee-i-did-alot-of-coka-1, I mean ffs what is this)
Anything by brands like that, usually you see them plastered all over social media. Athlesiure everywhere, all the time! Everyone trying to look like eachother, weird fitting-in uniform stuff
There are some black heavy combat boot fits that I would not wear if my hair was not the way it is

I had a fun idea for a runway look that involved a massive hat that required 4 people carrying poles to support the edge as you walked
If i ever end up doing a runway in some weird alternate universe keep an eye out for that

There's a certain uniform where men of a certain age try to signal that they are trying. Slim navy sport jacket, gingham or patterned shirt, slim fit light wash denim and like tan dress sneakers or maybe brogues. "High effort" bad fits hit me the worst. The tragic part is it's so close to working if they just wore stuff that was the appropriate size, darker shoes and :derek: 'd up the colours.

Honestly, a lot of people (a LOT of men) don't really try and don't care. And I don't think they should be put in the running for "worst fit". I feel like the really bad fits require a combination of effort, incompetence, and poor taste.
The idgaf attitude is the most attractive part of that for me

Yeah, dunking on bad fits and trashing people's honest effort is lame. I think the real point of anti-inspo is not necessarily that it's bad, but that it inspires you to do something different.

Division Road is one of my best examples of anti-inspo. They stock quite a few things I like, but somehow manage to make their best shit look like shit. Most of the issue is that they size down for whatever reason, like here with the Grandad coat.

I feel similar about alot of denim/heritage styling and I attribute it more to me once liking that style but trying to move away from it, but sometimes there are clear misses.
or the insitence on details when they don't really fit, like "selvedge cuffs are cool" but then they don't work with the shoes involved, etc. No hate, just interesting to see how my eye has changed

A lot of that genre has bad styling, and a lot of it is how they manage sizing and silhouettes. DR is just an example that’s particularly egregious to my eye

As much as I love internet fashion communities, I try not to put too much stock in them because it's easy to be blinded by the forums/servers culture and e-daps
Everyone just ends up styling each other in their own image and then the rolodex of pre-approved garms comes to fruition

My anti inspo is how the dudes dress on love island
Chain, hawaiian shirt way too unbuttoned, super skinny jeans with the cuffs rolled, white sneakers
I think there’s a difference between indifferent fashion (what’s described here) and anti fashion (which is so awful it becomes ironic to wear and then becomes in - see soccer jerseys mentioned earlier and crocs)
Indifferent fashion would be worn by the general public normally whereas anti fashion is perceived by the general public as so bad they would not wear it
And thus anti fashion becomes fashion soon enough in the fashion lexicon
So an example of indifferent fashion would be low rise slim chinos or sneaker shoes or surf tees. And current examples of anti fashion (IMO) are American Eagle type graphic tees (which I think will make a come back) or super ripped skinny jeans (which also will make a come back)
