Curling issues on my V-Minion

I've been having some issues with certain prints when it comes to curling. E.g. printing a cylinder vertically comes out superb, but trying to print it on its side causes curling (also things like octagon-shaped objects) I mostly print PLA at a temperature of 195°C. Let me just note that I really don't think bed adhesion is the issue. I saw a lot of threads in which people say that but the issue isn't specific to the first layer(s). I may be wrong but I just don't see bed adhesion being the issue. Sidenote: in the pictures both of those are supposed to be octagons Thanks for any and all help.

Part cooling fan set too low.

Yup curling = not enough cooling .. might as well try to reduce temp

make sure you enable "slow down for overhangs" in your slicer. I struggled with curling as well and by dramatically reducing the overhang speed it printed fine. Otherwise z-hop can help when your printer knocks off or hits parts. I use it for those articulated print in place models with lots of small parts

The reason this works is the same as increasing cooling. Cooling is time bound. So if you print slower you can make it work with lower air flow for part cooling. But yea, faster can lead to the viscosity of the extruded plastic causing the nozzle to drag material and pull it out of position on corners and curves when it's an overhang and there is less contact between layers for adhesion.

My (I assume) nozzle fan is set to 100%. How do I edit part cooling fan? Will do, thanks!

Should be in the filament settings tab in the slicer under "cooling".

I think the only fan here is the nozzle fan.

Yea that one is the part cooling fan.

It is already at max speed though.

If that's already at 100% then you have to slow down the print or upgrade your part cooling fan hardware (to a CPAP blower)

wait i see an issue. only enable the fan if layer time is below 100 seconds?

Your fan might not be coming on at all.

This seting is by default in @Ratrig generic PLA I didn't even notice it You think I should set it to 0?

Weird. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this setting then? In superslicer this whole section has a different title "very short layer time - begin to decrease extrusion rate"

Says on the PrusaSlicer page: If the layer print time is estimated below this number of seconds, the print fan will be enabled and its speed will calculated by interpolating between the Min and Max speed. Yeah the more I'm trying to figure it out the more I'm confused. Why would the fan be enabled for smaller layers but disabled for the ones that take more time?

Ah yes. I am using superslicer and superslicer has this parameter defined in reverse. I.e. the time below which the cooling fan goes even higher than the default value you define in the section above. Short layer time = more cooling. And/or Short layer time = print slower To increase the layer time so the plastic has time to cool
