What was your first "expensive clothing" purchase?
Mine was Alden indys in natty CXL on the modified last. It's hard for me to find shit that fits well in general. With the Alden's I put them on and they felt so comfortable. Bought from the moulded shoe for maybe $500? I don't remember.
Tagging wardrobe overhaul because a tag is required and it's the closest match.

It was a pair of truman for me in 2018
Only go up from there 😂
Vince is a weirdo but Truman make fantastic boots?
Not really, great leather, shit qc when i bought the stitchdown version
I sold all my truman now
ok
Just my exp with their stitchdown and width not fitting me. I havent handled their gyw so my opinion might not worth anything
Depends on what you mean by expensive. I bought my first Rick leather freshman year in college for like $700.
some massdrop x rider boot co. grey sude dundalk derby boots in 2012/13. sold them on grailed eventually a few years later
Iron rangers. 380usd
A Levi trucker was maybe the first item which felt quite expensive to me - I only went in the store with the intention of checking out a sale item that I'd had some issues with online, but then ended up grabbing a full price one somehow
but then that was quickly followed by a pair of Iron Rangers, so i guess it's all relative
i wear both regularly to this day, so good value purchases in the end
For myself I was spending probably under $100 per article of clothing up untill that point so $400 on a pair of boots was expensive to me. And it was at the start of getting interested in fashion at that point.
My first expensive purchase was a pair of OG colorway Jordans (at retail price)
Yes I grew up skint how can you tell
Jordan one bred/banned and Chicagos are classic colorways
TIMELESS
A pair of Loake Bedale boots for around £270.
MMM Gats in double black. Still one of my only retail fashion purchases to this day, they were $265 on sale.
White's MP boots
My suitsupply suit that I bought like a month ago
$500
A Sandro parka, at around 600€ at the time. Not the most trendy piece I own but great quality, quite versatile and super warm/comfy for the winter.
First expensive item I’ve bought was a Paul Smith suede jacket from TRR. At $180 it’s still the most expensive thing I’ve purchased.
Viberg engineer boots, around $500
Straight to Hell leather jacket for $375
Had a really great experience at the Self Edge store in Portland a few months ago and picked up a pair of slubby Iron Hearts, a little north of $300 I think? Well worth it IMO, they are so comfortable and fit me like a glove
This needles mohair cardigan for like $340. Ended up selling it because I lived in California and Texas where it was way too hot to wear. Also very itchy
I'm shocked that's the most expensive piece you have, don't you have plisse?
Those cost me $120 🙂
Dayum
Nearly everything I own is secondhand/deep sale, been super thrifty
Yeah same, you look amazing tho I had no idea
rick owens ramones for 400 haha. they didn't last long but sometimes i miss them bc they were my first
Why didn’t they last long? I’ve been thinking about getting a pair like this for a while now
they were louder/harder to style than I imagined they would be at the time. I think they proportionally don't work very well for me unless i drape stuff over them looking back. but if you're into rick they can be a great shoe, @blue.eyes still has his pair from back when I got mine and they're beautifully beat
Mine are gross it’s cool
Hmmmm yeah that’s kinda of what I imagined. All my friends that have ramones always wear the biggest pants with them. Would it be smarter to get lows or are lows frowned upon?
Gross
i think lows just have worse proportion issues honestly, you need to wear a big top to balance them somehow either way (or drop crotch)
Super duper depends on what you want to wear. I think lows are kinda bad unless you’re wearing wide and slightly cropped pants, highs work better with a wider range of things
the yellowing on the sole is sooo good
Love a good “piss sole”
I guess my first official expensive purchase was some momotaro jeans. After the denim phase it was geobaskets tho
@mewball @blue.eyes thanks for the advice! I might have to look deeper into highs.
I bought Zam Barrett DNA Jeans in my first year (2012-2013), I figured go big or go home (I should have actually stuck with that mentality and bought Carpe Diem boots off of Y!JP instead of Broken Homme)
ur unrecognizable damn
piss soles
first and most expensive purchase. Won't ever be this ludicrous again.
$880USD or $1050CAD 😭
I still love em but they were SO tight upon purchase and are now two sizes too big cuz of weight loss
wow that is crazy LOL
rare to see seomeone start on the highest end
I got a huge cheque for a year of work and got busy
Post a fit with them pls
First expensive piece of clothing I bought was a pair of Naked and Famous selvedge denim for 180 euro. I was 21, it was the first time I could afford something like that and I had dreamt about it for years. The fit was shit and I didn't realize that until much later. But my love for expensive clothes was born
APCs in high school. Sized down two because it was 2008 and that was a thing
These boots that I spent most of 2017 hunting down.
Slp?
Ya
Tough.
I’m hunting down aw15 French 85
Having any luck? I imagine they’re pretty hard to find at this point.
Facebook has them not in my size or season
If I was more wealthy I could just dm Eden but bottomless pockets I do not have
The last transactions I’ve seen have been affordable
I’m surprised Eden still has them
He may. Only person that comes to mind
