one of my favorite brands! they make a wide range of clothes, from basic to eccentric, that there's certainly something for everyone.

Love this description
lol, for some reason I often think of this article, even if I'm not a huge kapital fan
Somehow I’ve never stumbled upon this article, it’s amazing haha
new teacore boro jacket 👀
Wow
I wish somewhere in the UK stocked century denim
so I can try it on then proxy it.
have you considered just going to japan
I did that
I forgot to try on the century denim
smh
I know right
should probably just go back
considering how much you could save buying kapital, it'd basically pay for itself
Food £200
Data Roaming £50
Flight £800
Kapital £3,600
Hotel £150
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my family is dying
i have a trip planned for the fall and i'm afraid i'm either going to buy way too much or buy nothing
Hmm if you're quick enough you won't need food or hotel, there's £350
Western retailer Kapital prices are kind of nuts. Century denim is amazing, I am excited to get more. no5 trucker 🫠
same thing w/ most jp brands
true
price bump for exclusivity, plus another for all the import taxes etc
i'm ok w/ it, makes it easier to get stuff for a relatively good deal via proxy (or nowadays, some jp retailers are shipping internationally)
otherwise you end up like iron heart
cheaper in japan, but they have price agreements and sales territories set with different retailers, so you have to pay the US/UK/whatever prices if you're in those countries
i think it’s more so the price bump/low volume stocks over tariff costs since many products are still made in jp vs cn. pricing agreements makes sense when i see all retailers selling the same piece of the same price
can’t wait to go back to japan and grab some pieces! proxying has been great for me too
yeah when i went last (2018), kapital had three stores in ebisu alone, all within a 2-3min walk
damn, amazing. i was supposed to go in October but plans changed and i’m going to another country
including an "archive" store, which doesn't have anything discounted of course, just older stuff
yeah i was there for a little bit for work, and browsing for clothes in the evening was a dream
so much good stuff
ooo, i’d love to see that!
nothing is really cheap, but jp brands are ofc cheaper there than here (plus the tax discount), so my (very broken) brain says it's a great deal
conversion for USD has also been really strong for some time. anything you have on your mind to pickup if you do end up at a store? i’d like to grab a snufkin and a fleece jacket
no idea, i actually only have two pieces lol
a pair of basic cisco jeans i ordered from superdenim
and a mountain parka
that doesn't get enough wear
is it one of those kamakura ones 🥺
century denim on floor tile check
Are these no 5 or 7?
I’m dying for a pair of no 5
No5!
Those are my no 7s
No 5 is so hot
i’ve been wanting an indigo one and darned, this is perfection.
I wore those pretty hard. Definitely got jumped on by many muddy dogs over the years
yeah, here's a fit w/ it from when i was over there https://i.imgur.com/7rGUjr2.jpg
Whew damn, love this parka. Want the all black one day!
worst thing about Kapital is very little of it fitting if you're 6'+
Or if you’re a US large
my favorite kap pieces in my collection are the drunk suit, smiley boots, and boa rider’s jacket 🥺
is this all you? damn these are all so good!i want the drunk fleece p bad
yessir, you should also look into the corduroy drunk suits. they come in a nice shade of dark brown iirc. kinda miss my kapital phase, there’s weird kountry stuff that appears on Y! Japan or mercari every now and then
Love the suit, I kinda want a century denim jacket at some point to complete the set even though I don't wear the jeans very much anymore.
I do have a space in my wardrobe for some corduroy haha. I don’t have any kountry stuff unfortunately but I have some lingering desires for the patched snufkin
Me too, i’ll likely pickup a century jacket in the future
i wish the climate in LA was more forgiving for a century denim suit. i really appreciate how they dont look v heritage cosplay when worn together
their recent collections haven’t been very enticing overall tho?
I'm also in LA, I wish they had the century denim in a slightly looser cut
oh nice!
And yeah haven't been super inspired by any new stuff, I also prefer digging for old things on y!jp haha
yea i agree with you. wish they developed a true straight cut or a flared century denim
Maybe eventually. They revisit stuff a lot
their old stuff was the best stuff like the butterfly bomber
Oo yeah that's nice
Haven't seen that jacket only seen the pattern on a scarf I think

yea the hype cycle is partially to blame for all the bandana, patchwork denim, fleeces, and skull pieces that comprise the majority of the secondhand market. they’re very streetwear adjacent. 2015-2018 was a cool time for the brand and imo they lost their magic when they left their wheelhouse of freakamericana and got bigger (as all successful brands would)
still think their gaudy knits are in production and those are really cool. wish they revisited this one in the red virgin mary colorway
The gaudy knits are my fave. The cardigan and sweater in navy have been personal grails of mine since they came out
the damask fleece looks so nice
@smiles . Kapital pieces on average with western retailers markup are really high, like a $200 USD piece would sell for near $500. Not a rep expert but this was a resource that’s really great from Reddit:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YQ8Jp4o1qnK-dfbk_ESeCE6nAxPivoA3174pPXkJELU/edit
Someone compiled a list of common offenders, ways to help navigate the second hand market and ensure you get legit pieces.
Typically popular pieces, ranging from fleeces, to ring coats, bandana jackets, denim pants get copied a lot so it’s always good to investigate tell-tale signs or see if pictures are reused.
Another point: I think the century denim stuff would be harder to fake, or I’ve never seen fake ones online. I believe Kapital has some proprietary loom to get the sashiko effect on the pants, and in addition to the stitching you’ll notice a unique pattern from them as well. Pants procured from the Kapital Legs shop can also be stamped inside with a date or purchase and later revisions or dyes to the same pants at these locations can collect more stamps 🙂
Hope this helps!

save me oh kap daddies
Some silly Kapital stuff I think about
I think about that wool fringe coat very often
these are all so nice, but also lol at the fleece biker jacket. i do want the rayon shirt
grailed pic but found this at 2nd st but it was a size too large. i stood there with a stranger and we were both undecided about whether or not we wanted to pick it up 🤠
I have a couple hats and a gaudy cardi I got a few years ago when I lived near standard and strange. I honestly need more wearble kapital because its so hard for me to wear the cardi out lmao
i’ve been meaning to visit that shop, howd you like it there?
They are super friendly and awesome. But they def skew towards the raw denim leather boot market
if you know what I mean
But everyone I had ever interacted with at the oakland store was always super friendly
sounds perfect for me lol
They get some crazy brands and I gotta give it to their buyers
its really cool to see Real Mccoys and kapital under the same roof
i’m there quite a bit so i’ll give this place a visit in the coming weeks 🙂
Proxied a trucker hat once to flip and it was such an obvious fake, got sloppy for a moment and forgot to even scrutinize it at all when buying. All my other pieces are real though. As far as I know haha.
Been drooling over this shirt recently
I have a few pieces, the bandanas I got from a retailer so are (hopefully) safe, the two century denims look amazing so I am very confident about, I also recently picked up a used ring coat which I have no reason to believe is a rep, but I'm not going to be digging to deeply since I'm enjoying it regardless
Did i buy a fake piece CAPITAL INC. whereas all the shirts ive seen have been KAPITAL INC.
I think you did I'm afraid.
All those labels look wrong.
Kapital has a lot of labels so this isn't definitive but here's some I know aren't fake (brought in a Kapital store in Japan)
I was gonna say the same as chopper but since I’m not at all an expert I went looking around for more info and found this guide (hopefully it’s okay to post here): https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1YQ8Jp4o1qnK-dfbk_ESeCE6nAxPivoA3174pPXkJELU/mobilebasic
Doc suggests it might be ok and an early piece?
This is so fucking good thank you
Bookmarking for future ebay hunts
Yeah, might scour around and check which collection this shirt specifically came from
This one still feels a bit sketchy rn tho
I think it's just an early piece. The brand used to be called Capital with a C.
Yep, tons of early pieces that you won’t find catalogued anywhere as well
how often does kapital's online store restock?
shirt I wanted is sold out everywhere
I’m curious too but it doesn’t really matter since they don’t delivery internationally and you’d have to use a proxy to get anything
Aren't they really quite old at this point tho?
yeah was planning on doing this
I saw they had an email sign up for restock notifications
oh nice! i do have some close friends in japan right now and i want to ask them to check out some shops for me hehe
Yeah if I remember correctly the brand has existed since the 80s and switched from the C to the K in the early 2000s?
This is what canoe club says about it
Nice, I remembered correctly 😤
Encyclopedia of denim knowledge
anyone know if measurements have stayed consistent with the boa anoraks?
This is good to know
I might just fuck around and bring it with me to japan on my next trip and ask the kapital fellas if they can legit check it haha
ok i feel like i'm going insane
how does sizing work for this brand
i'm looking at a size chart for a shirt and the measurements look strange as hell
26 inch shoulders sounds way off for a size 1
Kinda depends
Some things are intentionally designed to be huge
Like the ring coat is purely sized based on vibes
i see
Yeah Kapital sizing is all over the place
if you're 19" pit or less I have a sick Henley I can sell you
Yeah unless youre familiar with the pieces, usually better to try em on in person if you have a stockist near you
God, the ring coat sizings vary from season to season so much
My friend is in Tokyo next week and I’m tempted to ask her to grab me one of the Tri-P coats from Kapital
Is this belt magnificent or am I just deranged by the label?
I wanna see these on person
Could be cool to take it out of the Kapital context with your style
I see the vision
Agree most Kapital pieces are borderline unwearable in the sense that you have to have a shit load of confidence and coordination (imo) to pull them off. But when you do they’re fucking sick
anyone have the patchwork katmandu?
which would y’all choose between the 2?
no.5 🤠
No. 5. The shirt is cool and all but the denim is probably more versatile
i ended up with the shirt lol. i’ll probably end up returning it if i don’t like it/getting the pants next paycheck
inevitably i want both
hope the fit of the shirt is good
They’re both solid pics tbh.
Those no.5s are on my wish list
Century Denim is so goddamn nice
patchwork beanie fits my gargantuan 60-61cm head if any similarly huge headed person is concerned
Good info my fellow megamind
ohh shit i was looking into that
i got a lot of hair so this is good to hear
Yeah I was rolling the dice on my massive noggin so I thought I'd share the insight.
Disco belt. Daintier than expected. Adorable, leather quality is questionable but it’s a fashion belt not a Full Grain Heritage Special.™️
elvander is thanos
Just grabbed this:
I think it's a dyed version of this:
Has the kapital tag but can't find any reference to it in brown. 🤷♂️
need
Yeah. The auction was sus but 50 bucks for a compressed wool cave painting scarf was too good.
Did you get it on yahoo auction?
Rakuten
Wait, sorry, that one was Yahoo auction
Dang going down a kapital auction rabbithole now
yeah there's a ton and the prices are 👀 but you're rolling the dice a little.
there's also P&P and customs
I grabbed a nice kapital shirt a while back from there for a criminally low amount
still not entirely sure its kosher but
If it’s kosher enough for you it’s kosher
What is the quality on Kapital like? Is it worth the price tag or am I just paying for Brand name? I'm going to Japan for vacation and have $1000 budget on clothes. Wondering if I should buy Kapital, EG, Jackman, or Needles
People mostly aren't buying Kapital for "quality", they're buying it because they like how it looks.
Is the quality of the garments average? Say like Cos or Club Monaco
Kapital makes quite good quality stuff for the most part but again that's not why people are buying it
So true and real
What does quality mean
kapital's clothes are made from diapers and plastic bags, sewn for pennies in krung thep before being stamped with the peace sign in Japan by prisoners
its what give it their signature character
i can't tell quality for shit
i just like my cat knit
and i got an amazing bargain on it
with usa marked up prices it's probably not worth it but in japan its definitely a better deal
whats the difference between quality and Brand name
Traditional Irish grandfather shirt & Kapital clown pants: Separated at birth
They do love their buttons
Kapital x eg: a single pocket that requires 10 buttons to open
Is century denim sizing as insane as it seems?
Like I'm usually a 28/30 but looks like I might need to get 34 in century denim?
i went 2” up so 30 -> 32 but could have gone to 34
I'm usually 30-31 and I have 34s. They fit but have a tiny bit of room.
34 sounds ok given the ones I'm looking at have a back belt then.
I want to say the waist on the 34s measures about 32 but I'm not home so I can't check. I had a pair of 32s that technically fit but felt a bit tight because they were the slim cut.
My older pair of 34s have shrunk after some time and are probably closer to a 30-31 now (80 cm across the waist). These were slim cut tho - my 1-2-3s are perfect at size 34

these go really hard, might go for a pair. will have to see what pricing looks like when released
but ya those are pretty sick!
Hard same, but their boot sizing is a little wack if i recall
Kapital's US pricing is borderline criminal, but the attention to detail and quality of their stuff has always impressed me, and they're savants with their fits and cuts. I'd recommend going somewhere to try some on and handle their stuff, I would 100% own Kapital things if I could easily find them at Japanese prices.
fwiw looks like a wider last than their navy supply boots so sizing might be alot more forgiving
I might just... go to Japan and check them out there
Import fees are killer
If US shops could afford to charge japanese prices they would
That makes a lot of sense, either way it's just too much at retail prices for me stomach. Too bad, since slot of their pieces are so cool.
I'm going to Japan in February and this thread has me tempted to swing by
Do it! I went last spring and it was a cool experience and its hardly off the beaten path. Good deals too. Its extremely small though so pretty limited selection but I got a nice ring coat and a couple Ts for cheap.
Bit of a late one but a friend of mine picked up some Kapital bits for me in Japan back in Nov - got myself the old man and the sea hat and the matching trousers for my napped cord jacket. I wore the full napped suit for my work xmas party and it was a winner, so warm
Does anyone know if there are fakes of Century denim? They seem too hard to fake.
Yeah, their quality is top tier. Japanese pricing will be far kinder as well
Does anyone still have/regularly wear a ring coat? I feel like I haven't heard anyone mention one in years.
I do. The long version tho.
i have one but I dont wear it much since I find it too fiddly. Considering dyeing it black to see if I wear it more
There's a long version?
Damn that looks way better than the regular version imo
Yeah i have the regular one and kind of wish it was long
I absolutely would if I could find one in my size
As I say that this shows up on offer for 300 GBP and I have certainly blown my budget this month already
Yes but it’s summer down here so they won’t be getting much action for a bit. Just got a boro hood one last month
I bought a jean version of the ring jacket earlier this year, but similar to the robot I find it too fiddly and rarely reach for it. Thought I would love all the possibilities but always feel like I am adjusting something or it's not draped or folded how I would like. Probably equally as much a - me having a hard time embracing chaos/drape/big - thing vs a reality of the actual coat.
Can anyone I.D. this?
I visited their Osaka store yesterday and managed to grab the last 9s type 1 jacket in my size. I'll try to post some pics once I get back from my trip.

Any century denim heads in chat. I ordered these from The Real Real and they aren't here yet, but I noticed that they have these weird fabric patches on the side and back that I've never noticed on century denim before
Idk why I'm asking I guess it's just a curiosity if anyone has seen anything like this before
They are definitely non standard and I’ve not seen them before, but maybe it’s a special model or something? Looks cool though
You sure those aren’t someone’s creative attempts to add more room?
Ha we will see dont have them yet
I've seen this before, someone had them expanded
Word thanks xen we will see how rough the expansion job is :xd:
now you know why it was tagged XS with those measurements
I mean the measurements check out for a higher tag size. TRR is also stupid sometimes so who knows
I'm down for some weird shit tho we ball
I’ve got a pair which is a bit small for me, tbh I would rather try doing something weird like this to extend them rather than bother selling
Anyone know the kanji/kana for century denim?
@cdfchopper センチュリーデニム
Thank you!
Anyone have measurements of this (specifically shoulder to shoulder and shoulder to sleeve cuff, online measurements aren’t clear) or know how it fits? Can’t decide on my size based on the online measurements
Or any fit pics would be helpful
CW: Gore
Kapital made a short horror film
That's really cool (and some interesting looking pieces in there)
"wear our clothes you'll look like a murder hobo" that's a marketing approach I can get behind.
Just fyi for some reason sharing the reel self doxxes your ig profile
Ah damn
Thanks for letting me know, that’s kind of frustrating
Others can find the film on their ig then
Ya it’s an unexpected and massively uncool feature
btw peeps I am selling my gaudy knit beanie, hit my DMs if you want
I expected big scrunchie not fucking massive scrunchie
LOL
lmao
If I wanted to buy these at a physical kapital store in Tokyo which one would be my best bet? https://www.kapital-webshop.jp/category/W_DRESS_JUMPSUIT/EK1439.html
I’d suggest sending them a DM on IG to see if they have stock
The Ebisu stores were only a block away from each other when I went last year
this one might literally give you a seizure. thus the spoiler
Gm eso
Good morning Eso!
Good Morning Bud!
oh lord
that was sure the wrong channel
It’s never the wrong channel to have a good morning
Time to wash these boys. Would you all recommend the tub or washing machine method
Cold wash hang dry has never caused me issues with my kapital denim (including century denim)
Hmm good to know. I’ve been doing the tub method for the last few years but I don’t think it works that well for light colors
Ain’t no one got time to wash stuff in the tub
wash them like jeans
if you're worried about shrinkage, then baby them during the dry phase. if not, double machine
I wash my jeans in the tub that’s why I asking lol. Not too happy with the results lately tho. Not worried about shrinking just messing up the fit, build, or quality
In Tokyo in a few weeks. Any guidance on which store is the best to hit, any rarities I should be looking at? I'm considering the paisley dragger coat and some century denim.
Ginza for denim, daikanyama for duffle and the main store.
What's different in the duffle store? I've seen the tag on some pieces but I don't know the specifics
I know there was a recent restock but it is quite hard to find the larger sizes, they sell out pretty quick! Tokyo has multiple locations and I would recommend the Ebisu location as they have 3 stores near each other vs Roppongi’s 2 and Ginza’s 1. I’ve visited around 7 stores and there really isn’t a vast difference between them with regard to item offerings. Some stores may have some past season things but generally could find many of the same things across each place. I recommended Ebisu because I really enjoy this neighborhood and the Legs location there has a quick hemming service.
Does anyone order this stuff in the US? The prices seem insanely inflated vs JP prices it makes it hard to reasonably want to buy it
can u be more precise
like do people pay us retail? Yes
do people proxy it from Japan? Also yes
Also massive second hand interest
I’m lucky in that some dude offloaded his entire collection to my local secondhand streetwear joint and I’m just slowly buying it :sunglas:
yes, stockists will put them on sale. I've seen sale prices reach retail JP prices. Proxy services will only net modest savings, but otherwise secondhand market locally can be quite alright. ime, secondhand prices are similar to JP retail even though they've been worn significantly lol
I really want one of the fleeces but the prices are crazy on things like canoe club
And the century denim gawddamn
What do you guys use for secondhand? I can't seem to find much on Poshmark or eBay
Don't buy the fleece secondhand lol
It will be fake
Well you better be very good at spotting fakes rather
grailed has decent deals on cd if you are patient
yahoo japan via a proxy service like Buyee, Zenmarket
Just feels a bit silly to get bent over by the stockists
fleeces are all fake stay away
but there is also a ton of cool stuff which is not hyped
Any pointers in that direction?
Stuff to look out for second hand maybe 🤔
just stay away from anything with bandanas, the fleeces, anything with skeletons, probably a few more things im forgetting about
Def the skeletons
Some of the drunk stripe
Someone here got a fake of that once
Hm so the cool stuff lol
Unless there is cool stuff I'm missing out on
Kapital does a lot of shit
A lot of it is cool
Also stay away from cheap boro lmao
also the kountry hats, piles of fake ones
Loads of the smiley stuff is faked too.
And bandanas
Trust me US retailers are not trying to get a buck off you
It costs a literal fortune to import their stock from Japan
If you're trying to get rich fast, selling niche menswear brands is a bad way to do it. As high as the markup is outside Japan, prices wouldn't be so similar from retailer to retailer if they were taking in most of that markup as profit.
Yeah the markup can be hard to stomach sometimes but imo if you’re shopping online with a store based in the US what you’re paying for is faster shipping times and the ability to return or exchange it if there are any problems
And if its a store you can visit in person, you’re paying for the ability to see it for yourself and walk out the door with it
Not to mention customer support with someone fluent in your native language. I've gotten some stuff proxied from yahoo japan before and had the chance to visit Kapital Osaka in person while on vacation once, but it's very reassuring to trust that the person understands your questions and that you understand his/her answers about sizing/shrinkage/etc before you drop hundreds of dollars on an item. (Obviously no shade to the Osaka employees who spoke infinitely better English than I did Japanese)
Ive heard that Kapital is pretty ruthless with discounts and stuff too. Stores cant mark down kapital too much or they risk losing their contract
Can anyone comment on how itchy their wool scarves are? I found a pattern that would fit my gf really well but she's generally sensitive to wool and wouldn't wear anything itchier then say a basic merino sweater. I'll probably swing by my local stockist later this week but figured I'd ask here first.
I don't find the wool scarves itchy at all but I'm not particularly sensitive to wool
I have three of the boiled wool, I love them.
https://uptherestore.com/products/kapital-nylon-quilting-lining-ring-coat-khaki-fw23 saw this in person at 2ndstreet and there's something charming in its ugliness

Oh t7 has one of these too
Seems like not the best material for a ring vcoat. Part of the charm, for me at least, is how well they drape
Kapital legs staff are blessed. Exactly the vibe you want from the human representatives of Kapital on earth.

Black century denim and a wool ring , socks and a bandana
:letsfuckinggo: the #recent-purchases post after this japan trip is gonna be wild
pants or jacekt in denim
I’m gonna stealth it I already have a reputation
Pants. Straight cut they hemmed it then and there and stamped the pocket bags with the purchase date
So fucking cool
like ring coat, or like scarf type deal
The fit is flawless
Ring coat in a khaki wool
damnnnnn
i didnt love the centure denim pants i tried, but i think it was a tapered cut
also did you get the little coin/token thing
No , don’t think so
:nooooo: u should ask next time, in sapporo they gave me a neat little store specific carboard token thing, apparently they all have one
They didn’t have much in stock in the denim
They actually didn’t have my size so they grabbed the biggest they had which apparently is my true century denim size
Pocket bag stamped with the date of purchase in store
thats really cool
they’re fancy business cards
also bandana pricing being marked up like 150% outside japan :nooooo:
What size did you go for?
2. Fits huge
Yeah its actually wild, especially considering the rest of their sizing!
Did you remember to pick up the black century denim you mentioned grabbing for me?
Dang knew I forgot something. Next time I’m in Tokyo.
Perfect! Appreciate you booking another trip for that
I don't know where else to put this information but on a proxy trawl a year ago I came across a kapital belt and it had always tortured me what the inspiration for it was. Looks like it may have been inspired by a native style of barette.

That's a really cool color
Tried that one on in the kapital duffle. Gorgeous would go really well with dark fits. I went with the khaki brown version of the same jacket because I’m a coward.
but it looks good tho
