Push to Talk in discord cutting out - OS Windows 11
Recently upgraded my pc from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (in place upgrade) things were ok or so I thought. While talking to my friends in discord they kept telling me my mic was cutting out. Using voice activation works but I prefer PTT. PTT still works flawlessly on a separate Windows 10 machine.
I have tried the following steps to resolve the issue.
I tried different PTT buttons, it doesn't make a difference.
After that I ran the following in windows 11
sfc /scannow (and press Enter)
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Tried Disabling Exclusive Mode in Sound Settings:
- Right-click on the sound/volume icon in the taskbar and select 'Sounds'.
- Go to the 'Recording' tab, right-click on your microphone, and select 'Properties'.
- Under the 'Advanced' tab, uncheck the boxes for 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device' and 'Give exclusive mode applications priority'.
- Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.
Tried to Adjust Privacy Settings:
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Privacy & Security' > 'Microphone'.
- Ensure that access to the microphone is allowed for apps and that Discord is specifically allowed to access the microphone.
Tried Modifying Discord's Power Settings:
- In Discord, disable 'High Packet Priority' in 'Voice & Video' settings. This can sometimes interfere with network-dependent features like PTT.
Tried Running Discord in Compatibility Mode:
- Right-click on the Discord shortcut, go to 'Properties'.
- Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:', and select 'Windows 8'.
- Also, check 'Run this program as an administrator'.
- Click 'Apply' then 'OK'.
I am just curious if anyone else has had this issue and resolved it. My next step is a reinstall of the OS.
