NVIDIA ISO refuses to install, help appreciated
Been working on this all day and finally throwing a lifeline out here in case someone can help. I've checked the GITHUB for active issues that are similar but nothing quite fits.
I am new to Linux and installed the Gnome version for Intel Arc on my laptop with no issues and love it. PC's turn. I want to dual boot my primary desktop PC (intel i9-14900K, NVIDIA RTX 4080, Gigabyte Z790 GAMING X AX, 96GB RAM) with the existing Win11 install and Bazzite until I'm confident it's working and I can fully wipe Windows.
I can't get beyond launching the install media with the current NVIDIA Open Stable ISO, except twice, and receive a variety of errors when I try different approaches.
Errors
1) "AttributeError: 'GzipFile' object has no attribute 'fileobj'. Did you mean: 'myfileobj'?"
2) "AttributeError: '_GzipReader' object has no attirbute '_crc'"
3) Most common error: "Pane is dead (signal 11, Mon Dec 30 19:34:52 2024)." CTRL+ALT+F2 does nothing.
4) Twice I was able to get into the installation screen by skipping the checks and trying the older NVIDIA ISO, then manually partition, after getting to the deploying stage of the install, this error pops: "Installing bazzite following error occurred while installing the payload: this is a fatal error and installation will be aborted. the command 'ostree container image deploy--sysroot=/mnt/sysimage--image=run/install/repo/bazzite-nvidia-open-stable --tarnsport=oci--no-signature-verification' exited with the code --4"
Here's what I've tried:
1) Verified the checksum, ISO is fine
2) Etching with Balena and Rufus separately
3) Both GPT and MBR type etches
4) Etching as DD image vs ISO in case that was a contributing factor
5) Secure Boot is disabled
6) Fast boot is disabled
7) Tried the NVIDIA Stable ISO vs the NVIDIA Open Stable ISO (the older one)
8) Tried safe graphics version
