wasn't saying it's not present elsewhere at all, I was just idly reflecting that milsurp tends to 'say' counterculture in public, whereas the tacticool LARPers I've seen tend to lean more gray man Arcteryx LEAF

Style Highlight: Milsurp - Topic of the day 4/6/24
This actually makes me wonder if perceptions are subtly different in Canada vs the US, I feel like milsurp is more typically associated with countercultural vibes thanks to Mohawk activists following Kanesatake and Americans fleeing the draft in the 70s

Zeo's Spring 2024 Fit Battle Journal (Completed)
Honestly the way you laid out wearing the orange coach’s jacket in such a way as to gesture to Ivy and an aesthetic as incongruous as deer hunting season is blowing my mind a bit, that is :galaxybrain: and yet so cohesive I never would’ve clocked it.

Favorites Series: Linen Shirts - Topic of the day 3/28/24
My two favs are used/thrifted, there is nothing nooooothing 😩 like how linen wears over time, it becomes so incredibly soft. Newly purchased, I've a couple that I quite like from Common Manufacturing and Magee 1866 and every summer I try to wear them as often as possible to accelerate the softening process.

Canadian Brands: What is the current landscape?
Oh and actually gotta mention Northern Watters based in PEI, they make the antidote to the downfall of the chunky knit that folks were bemoaning on the internet a while ago

Thought I'd throw in some more domestic manufacturing:
Commonwealth Mfg. in Winnipeg; started with collared button up/down shirts, really nice fabrix in limited runs, semi-recently started doing chinos https://commonmanufacturing.com/
On the west coast, Ecologyst, formerly Sitka, https://ecologyst.com/
and Anian https://anianmfg.com/ do variations on what I'd read as a sort of minimal Cascadiana aesthetic, sweaters and shackets and cozy outerwear adjacent pieces in natural materials, whereas Haven which someone mentioned above, does a similar thing but streetwear and gorpcore inflected https://havenshop.com/
also these folks do blanks https://jerico.ca/ but I haven't bought any of their stuff yet; can vouch for the quality of the others tho
