Unity Mod Manager doesn't install despite reporting successful install
One last bit of info: after install, several people report having a Params.xml file located inside /home/booper/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Pathfinder Second Adventure/Wrath_Data/Managed/UnityModManager. I've never found that xml file installed anywhere. I'm under the impression that the install is actually failing each time, but the UMM isn't reporting why. Nothing crashes, nothing breaks, but the mods don't work as a result and without knowing why, I'm feeling a bit stuck. Very curious to know if anyone can help.

Unity Mod Manager doesn't install despite reporting successful install
I then found yet another thread that suggested I launch the game with WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winhttp.dll=n,b' %command% because this was required for a lot of Linux mods. I tried this with every variation of install mentioned above. No Dice. Out of desperation, I tried installing UMM using the DoorstopProxy method described in the instruction set for Windows. That's when I realized the log only reported copying winhttp.dll to the Pathfinder directory using the Doorstop method. The Assembly method did not. Strangely, the Doorstop install worked to the point that I was able to open UMM and install mods. Again, no reported errors. So I retried both the Mono and the non-Steam game installation methods using DoorstopProxy. No dice. In each case, I can get UMM to run, I can install mods using UMM, and I can confirm the files have actually been copied to a series of folders within /home/booper/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Pathfinder Second Adventure. I receive no errors and I have no problem launching the game... but nothing at all happens once I'm in game. I can't open the Mod Manager using CTRL+F10 and I can't get any other kind of mod to load at all.

I'm going to sign up for protondb and start trying to keep a list of when I run into this. Might try submitting a ticket to Steam too. Never tried interacting with Valve that way.

Also some suggestions that flatpak is somehow involved hahaha. Arch is weird though. This is inconsistent and disabling Overlay seems to fix it completely, so it must be Steam's doing somehow

I found a thread that suggested it had something to do with xdg-desktop-portal? No idea if that's even relevant to Bazzite.

It must be some combo of Steam and the games I play, though I wonder about it showing up in Arch too. Such a weird error.

Oh cool. I can give that a try later today. All my important Steam files are cloud saves anyway.

Huh! Well thank you very much for trying. I'll drop this and only post about it again if it starts affecting my ability to actually start the games. This is more curiosity than anything.

That thing must fly. I don't do a ton of professional work on my personal PC, so I went with a last gen build last year when the Black Friday sales were good. Still the fastest, smoothest computer I've ever had. And much cheaper.

This error is Bazzite telling me to to clean out the attic and garage instead of playing games!

(with games, I mean, not Bazzite. This is literally the only Bazzite-relates trouble I have)

Sorry to keep bugging you all with this, but I'm genuinely curious. If it's just the games, it looks like I need to get a proton DB account and start reporting some of this stuff! About time. I at least document some of the problems I run into.

It seems like the amount of time matters too. If I only play for a few minutes, I don't get a crash most of the time. But 20 minutes or more seems to be a sweet spot.

Alright, so I experimented a bit more and if I turn Steam's overlay off, I don't have this problem. Or at least I didn't have it yesterday when I tried it on a few different games. Anyone else have problems with the overlay and crashing?
