Minecraft server hosting service
Hi,
I want to start a Minecraft survival server with friends, running fabric with some slight server-side modifications (like carpet mod).
We have been using free hosting services like Aternos and Falix Nodes in past servers and it is just not enough. Performance is terrible, as expected.
That's why I'm creating this post. I need help choosing a hosting service. We require something that fits this conditions:
- The server will have around 5 active members and 10 total members, which most of the times only 3 people will be online at once, maybe more, and sometimes bot players (this is an estimation based on past servers).
- There will be farms running on the server, some might be very resource intensive and capable of generating thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of items per hour.
- Be able to comfortably run at 16 render distance.
My budget is around 10 euros a month.
Currently I'm testing, in a creative world, Hetzner's CX32 plan (8 euros a month), which has 8GB of RAM and 4 VCPUs. The Minecraft server is running with 6GB of RAM. Performance mods, like lithium, are installed.
I've been messing around with it and it's already much better than free hosting services, but it still seems to not have the greatest performance. Chunk generation could be faster, I have been flying forward with an elytra with a friend and sometimes it can't keep up. When running farms like nash's stacking raid farm the MSPT goes up to like 45, which I believe shouldn't.
I've been told that I do not need 6GB of RAM for this conditions and that the CPU from this Hetzner plan ins't very good, that there are alternatives with better value for the money. I got recommended Pebblehost's Minecraft premium plan with 4GB of RAM.
I would like to hear your guys opinions and recommendations. Sorry if I did not provide enough information, tell me if you need more. Feel free to ping me.
Thanks!
