Uniqlo
I am impressed by the ribbed collar cardigan, it fits a “navy blazer-lite” spot in my wardrobe. Weird for me to say but I almost prefer it’s a cotton/poly/rayon blend because it is a bit sturdier than if it was just cotton. I sized down because it’s a bit oversized. But I want the other colors now… https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E471136-000/00

J Crew
I feel like it comes and goes, some seasons? Certainly not present in the F/W they are showing. Also many pieces ended up in mainline J Crew in some fashion

J Crew
I bought them last year according to DieWorkwear also -- and had to return because my normal size was too small and I couldn't get a larger size. So small I couldn't button the bottom buttons. Like, when has J Crew ever intentionally run small!? I hope it was just a one time thing.

Uniqlo
I finally ran through the EG x Uniqlo stock at my local store. Impressions below -- but my take is that they are good!! - All things are very oversized. I sized down from XL to L and things look good, normal, plenty of room for layering. (previously for summer polos I was less successful in sizing down the EG stuff) 1. bomber/"blouson" was the sleeper hit for me: it's got filling! shell is thick, like wool! (though it is 90/10 poly/rayon) It's warm! It's also cropped, which I think looks cool for winter outerwear. Also most street-forward IMO, with a sorta-futuristic vertical three-button collar snap, a similar one-button snap on the bottom, and of course extra random pockets (left sleeve, right patch pocket) 2. Utility Jacket (M-65ish) is also quite solid, I really liked the colors Olive and Brown...pulled my hair out trying to choose between them. 2x extra patch pockets on the back. Has internal cinch to close at waist as well as on bottom. Even sizing down I have tons of room to layer, like over a suit jacket. Lighter than the bomber, no filling, but more substantial than a lighter coat. 3. Hooded Coat (M-51 fishtail parka) very big, more technical fabric and despite the ankle length it's lighter than the others. Least fashion-y...no excess pockets even! Website says "extra stitching around the pockets" but I didn't notice it at all. It seems fine, and maybe preferable for a milder season. But as the most expensive option it seems the least interesting on its face.

I loved W+H too! Only time in my life that I got into something like a month before it went out of business, including getting a great limited-run jacket from their final, final sale 😦 As a close follower of Reigning Champ, I see they are clearly stepping into that territory — first with 1x1 slub henleys (the W+H eternal offering), and now with more almost office gear — cardigans, and dress shirts!? but I think the head designer from W+H moved to HAVEN, also based in Canada.

L.L.Bean
I can’t find any info on new Todd Snyder x LL Bean for 2023 (if it exists?). As a TS fan I felt the items were more-or-less like the standard TS lineup…nothing splurge-worthy but good value if on sale. I got some things last year: - chamois shirt with elbow patches (it’s OK, thinner than I expected) - wool beanie (solid! for a hat!) - Sherpa fleece shirt-jacket, “hi-pile” in blue birdseye — excellent, extremely warm and cozy-looking.
