Opinions on the Baxter State parka? I need a new winter jacket, and this is my leading contender based on https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/9bc1f5/ultimate_parka_guide_v2/. From what I've read, sizing runs very large, and there might be some quality issues with the zipper.

@ll.beansandrice thoughts on LL bean?

Sizing doesn’t run as large as people think. It’s just not slim fit. I haven’t bought anything from them in a while actually but I love the moleskin work shirts and their alternative to Patagonia baggies are also quite nice actually I’ve never owned bean boots

Slightly Fitted shirts are great and the sizing is just more boxy. Right now is the time to get into it since people are leaning more toward boxy or looser fits anyway. I also happen to like the fleeces and jackets as well.

I was referring to the sizing of the parka in particular.

Love me some bean, one of my favorite brands to buy second hand, esp for sweaters & flannels

Wore my suplex shorts today for SUP and they were awesome. Superior to baggies in every way

I gotta ask about those - are you cutting the liner out so you can wear underwear with them? wearing them with no underwear? after all the talk on the sub about baggies discovering they have a liner was really weird for reasons I can't articulate

awburkey16mo ago
I mainly use mine as swim shorts so I don’t cut the liner but I might

Cutting out the baggies liner is normal and imo the right thing to do, unless you’re using them as trunks like beans

wondering if anyone here has had experience with the Multisport pants? I would be using them mainly to hike and power lounge. https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/124184?page=mens-llbean-multisport-pants&bc=&feat=multisport%20pant-SR0&csp=a&searchTerm=multisport%20pant&pos=1

I don't really love the button pocket personally and I'm not about a 60/40 cotton/poly sweatshirt either tbh

oh damn I didn't notice that I did kind of like the pocket but yeah I hear you on the material thing

huh looks like ~all of their sweats have a high poly content. That kinda stinks

yeah I'm surprised the 1912 ones are a blend, too, I thought that was supposed to be the "premium" stuff has there been any talk about new todd snyder x ll bean stuff? I was kicking myself last year for not getting in on the ground floor with some of that stuff

I went to an LL Bean shop today and tried on the Baxter State Parka. It's not super MFA-fashionable, but I need a winter parka, and it seems like a good one for the price, especially if I can get it on sale. The sizing is very large. I usually wear M, but for this jacket I'm S. It seems comparable to the North Face McMurdo, but slightly better overall. Oh hey...I posted about that same jacket before. Totally forgot lol. Well, now I've seen it in person. Still seems like a good choice.

I posted about this in #recent-purchases but in case anyone didn't know you can send your Bean Boots and Maine Hunting Shoes back to L.L Bean to be resoled. You have to call Customer Support to get the address, then you'll mail them in with a note with your contact info and they'll invoice you.

I can’t find any info on new Todd Snyder x LL Bean for 2023 (if it exists?). As a TS fan I felt the items were more-or-less like the standard TS lineup…nothing splurge-worthy but good value if on sale. I got some things last year: - chamois shirt with elbow patches (it’s OK, thinner than I expected) - wool beanie (solid! for a hat!) - Sherpa fleece shirt-jacket, “hi-pile” in blue birdseye — excellent, extremely warm and cozy-looking.

yeah I suspect they just didn't do it this year. oh well

Does anyone have suggestions for wearing their chamois shirt during the winter I'm aware it's a light jacket and flannel shirt combined so I'm assuming tucking them in is an option, but they are hella long

I like to tuck mine. This is an ll bean chamois shirt

A yes, a fellow man of culture in the second picture So it's a light outer layer and a second layer depending on the weather and style
awburkey
awburkey13mo ago
That’s been the weather here mostly. Chilly except at the peak of the day so I don’t need a heavier layer
