Got it fixed, I just used a pirated copy and it works flawlessly.

trying to install mods and satisfactory keeps updating
I've run into the same issue. I followed the guide on the SMM website to a tee three separate times, and Steam keeps trying to update it. Just like the last update, going through this hassle, poor guide writing, and the SMM developers not allowing custom paths ruined the game again. Just gonna delete the game and forget about it again for a year 🤣
