My CPU and allocated RAM is pretty much maxed out, so I'm suspecting they're just taking their sweet time to load

Just to give an update if someone with the same problem stumbles upon this: increasing the quality preset fixed this for me. I was on the lower end, but when I put it on extreme it seems to work. I haven't manually gone through every setting to see which one was causing the deloading, but that might be worth a shot if you're experiencing the same problem on a lower end rig.
