Splitter and merger meshes disappeared
if i may interject: the main problem with "shutdown and start vs full reboot" is to do with the Windows "Fast Boot" option. For a while it was enabled by default and it meant that if you did "shutdown and start", the machine would do a "half-hibernation, half reboot" leaving oddities in ram.
On the other hand, if you did the "full reboot" the hardware sometimes do not fully reset because it wasn't powered off for long enough.

various default includes missing (alphakit)
adding an 8GB page file (windows suggested 5GB) seems to have solved it

i also think there may be dirty memory from trying to rebuild before, i could try building directly after a reboot.

there were a lot of heap running out of space while building in vs2022 even at 32gb ram, beyond that i don't know much.

if these are supposed to be symlinked it's an easy fix (i don't think exfat supports symlinks)
