that is something images have as default, to remove it you can add a display block, flex or grid to the imgs elements https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5804256/image-inside-div-has-extra-space-below-the-image

Smartly overlapped section with the one above
te easiest way is to have a container containing the card, so the container has a padding and a gradient like:
--stop: 20%;
background-image: linear-gradient(transparent var(--stop), green var(--stop));
then you also can change the stop on different media queries
