groom reception outfit for summer farmhouse wedding
I'm the groom and we're having a "garden chic" wedding at a farmhouse in July. Ceremony outfit will be Indian, and I can change into something less traditional for the evening reception.
I want to play with something more vibrant, like a smoking jacket or embroidered blazer. Just can't be too warm since it's a July wedding that's mostly outdoors (dinner served outside adjacent to an air conditioned dance floor). Theme is wildflower sustainability fun creativity, so less traditional is good.
PS I love raw denim work wear and borderline rodeo cowboy although I know that may be a bit weird.

which color for this Patagonia parka?
I'm debating between Grayling brown and Northern green (the only two colors I can get at a good discount locally). For reference I'm brown-skinned and my wardrobe contains a lot of denim, brown, olive, and tan.

Thanks

To parka or not to parka?
What's preferable between 1) long wool coat + separate stormproof shell, versus 2) insulated parka?
I already have the long wool coat. I could get one of several parkas since there are a lot of options (Patagonia, Fjallraven, Uniqlo, etc.). There aren't many long stormproof shells, but it would keep my wardrobe minimal with fewer redundancies (simply layer over the wool coat).
Thoughts? FYI this is mostly for mid-atlantic winters, so it would be used infrequently, but could also be used for travel further north. I commute to work via car, so I'm pretty well protected, but I also like to take long walks and maybe do some yard work in the dead of winter.

Coats for spring/fall
I've been eyeing barn coats, but I get the impression that work wear is passé (for non workers, at least). What's a trendy/sexy alternative?
Requirements: tough enough to handle yard work, roomy enough to layer underneath, long enough to cover hips, lined for warmth but preferably not insulated. Also preference for non synthetic materials. (Am I simply describing a barn coat?!)
