Whether it’s Margiela GATS vs reproduction GATS or OrSlow Fatigues vs reproduction fatigues, there are many different higher quality variations of classics. Which ones are worth the price increase and which would you prefer the original?

From what I've seen they don't feel much different to the classic chucks though, in terms of the ortholite insole
I think chuck 70s are already classic and collabs don’t count
It’s more like another company does a version of a classic item with nicer materials and charges higher
Personally I don’t see the appeal most of the time because it doesn’t add much aesthetically and rarely does the original item actually have annoyingly bad quality

My Mariela GATs are different enough imo. Not in any meaningful stylistic way but they’re way more comfy to me. Still not really worth the price tho

Even on sale, the price is often hard for me to wrap my head around. In my head, a sneaker should be like $225 max. I like a lot of the Viberg and Feit sneakers too, but I’ve also never bought a pair for the same reason. Haven’t managed to get past that mental hurdle

tbh yea gats were the most ive spent on sneakers at like 280 in 2017
I totally agree. It’s why I’ve never managed to replace mine even though the heels have holes in them. It’s a tough one to get over even tho there’s not really anything different about buying expensive sneakers vs expensive jeans
