DH looks blocky and shaders don't really work

Hi i'm playing on a multiplayer server, small server for 2 players. I am using shaders with DH and i have some problems . Pc Specs: GPU: 7900XTX CPU: AMD Ryzen 7800X3D RAM: 32GB 6400MHZ Minecraft Version: 1.21.1 Fabric Version: 1.21.1 Minecraft Mods: Distant Horizons 2.2.1 Entity Model Features Entity Texture Features AmbientSounds 6 Better chunk loading BetterEnd BetterNether Chunky Continuity Indium Iris Shaders Macaw's: Doors, Fences and Walls, Furniture, Lights and Lamps, Paths and Pavings, Trapdoors, Window Mod Menu Noisium Presence Footsteps Serene Seasons Sodium Sound Physics Remastered Tectonic Terralith With Complimentary-Reimagined looks like this: DH looks very blocky, the chunks were preloaded with chunky before being on the server and the chunks were also traveled by player. Changing the render distance in the DH settings changes nothing 512 loads the same amount of chunks as 64. If anybody has a fix would be aprecciated. With ComplimentaryUnbound+EuphoriaPatches looks like this: DH doesn't even load just very little blocks as seen in the picture. It worked for a little bit when i joined the server, for my friend it still works it just looks very blocky. Also i would like some help with adjusting fog settings so there is a little fog over the DH rendered chunks and as it gets more to the specified rendered distance its denser so the mountains for example as seen in the 1st picture are under fog. If you require any more information please inform.

What Sodium version are you using?

I am using Sodium 0.6.7 released on February 9th 2025

Indium is obsolete since sodium 0.6, you can remove it Can you provide the pictures you're talking about?

are the pictures not available for download?

The first file is a .bin, the second doesn't even want to load when I click on it

Everything seems normal in the first screenshot Blockiness is probably expected, that's just how dh behaves. It renders stuff at a lower quality so your pc can render higher render distances Try turning up the quality preset to get less blockiness

I am on extreme quality, tried going one higher to pixel art tho my minecraft crashed when i tried that
Puhpine
Puhpine2w ago
Yea pixel art is generally a bad idea But on extreme, the blocks near you should 1x1 meter, the same as Minecraft's blocks Quality should only drop on farther terrain

I tried all of the settings for quality and there was such a minimal change that if i didnt look directly at it i couldnt tell that extreme looks better than lower qualities

But how does it look blocky then? Are the blocks bigger than 1x1 meter?

it looks blocky for me because colors blend together for example the tree leaves looks just like a green blob on brown stick for me so it looks like there is singular block on it i would like a little bit more distinction and if you have any idea how i can fix the ComplimetaryUnbound+Euphoria would be nice, since when i joined the server it worked for good like 2 hours with no problems and also i would like to get the fog to work so it hides a little bit of DH, but i cant seem to figure out what settings i need to change for that

The only thing you can really do about that is turn up your normal render distance, so fake chunks start farther out Is it the latest version? Does restarting Minecraft fix it? The shader should add fog, but it's generally only visible once you've filled in most of your DH render distance

i tried increasing render distance to max and there was no change it looked the same

Puhpine2w ago
So to 32 chunks?
Cyberian
CyberianOP2w ago
yes it is the latest version, checked it twice it doesnt work when i am restarting minecraft

Since complementary does work, it's probably the shaders fault, so the shader dev might know what the problem is
Cyberian
CyberianOP2w ago
yeah and the chunks before me in the picture are filled in since i traveled till the mountains that are visible in the picture

Puhpine2w ago
And what is your DH render distance?
Cyberian
CyberianOP2w ago
512 tried 64 and somehow DH renders the same amount of chunks
Puhpine
Puhpine2w ago
Yes because that mountain is less than 64 chunks away So you filled in less than 64 chunks out of 512, which is why the fog doesnt render yet Next problem, you say you have pregenerated, but don't see very far How did you pregenerate?

DH is only on client side and the chunks were generated when nobody was on the server with chunky with the standart /chunky center, /chunky radius and /chunky start
Puhpine
Puhpine2w ago
Okay so that doesn't actually pregenerate DH chunks Chunky only generates normal chunks, but if DH is only client side, it has no way to access those chunks. One way to pregenerate DH chunks, is to load the world in singleplayer, generate the LODs there, and move them to multiplayer

i will try that

The other way is to use the in-dev nightly builds to put DH on the server, giving the server the ability to generate and send LODs to connected players. Which you can read more about in https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1285883332768563284

yes i read about that, i try 1st the singleplayer generation and try to contact the shader dev to see if there is a fix for it thanks for the help ill get back to you once i generated some chunks in singleplayer, that would tho probably in like 10-12 hours since its late for me but thanks for the help

Puhpine2w ago
Yea, that's also the time it will take to generate 512 chunks (because you probably didn't know that chunky calculates it's distance in blocks, so when you did /chunky radius 512, it actually generated a radius of only 32 chunks)

thats helpful to know, thought it calculates chunks
