!!! Server Emergency - World data unintentionally upgraded
I run a 1.8 minecraft server. Today, I was trying out a new spigot, unaware that it was for Minecraft version 1.17. It automatically converted all my world data into 1.17, and now I can't start the server with my 1.8 spigot.
* I do not have any world backups
* I cannot switch to 1.17
I need to convert all the data to 1.8. Please help.

the file is like 50gb
wonder fu
Not sure if the file structure or anything else changed significantly between 1.8 and 1.17, but its possible only the spawn chunks were converted
Quite a lot changed from 1.8 to 1.17 especially on world gen side. Its likely that everything that got upgraded will have problems unfortunately. This is why backups should always be made before changing things
its just one of the worst ideas to tinker with production WITHOUT backups
that aside
you could possibly try mca selector if a few chunks got corrupted
Use chunker.app to downgrade back to 1.8, make sure to use desktop client if your world is too big
In most case your inventory will be wiped too, you can hire someone to write a plugin to convert inventory data to older version
