itchy pants fabric
so a pair of pants arrived and no visual concerns but the fabric is super itchy and theres no inner lining aside from pockets and my underwear being a layer from touching my skin.
but the rest of the legs and my arms touching it from just being down gets to me.
so any fixes yall know about? bc i cant line the outside lol
oh and its made of like 2% elastane, 30+ ish percent of wool and 60ish polyester (yes i saw the composition before purchasing but not all wool blends turn out itchy)

Option a: long underpants
Option b: just tough it out. In my personal experience, you get used to it after like half an hour and stop noticing it, and I have worn unlined tweed pants.
Option c: in lieu of underpants, stockings might work as a more breathable alternative, but im not sure on that one but it could work?
Option d: return. Bought a pair of cheap poly pants off asos once where the pocket lining left some weird rash on my thigh
Don’t really recommend
I did wash it
The curve of the pocket stayed on my skin for some months
I would return these. If they were mostly wool I'd tell you to use Lanolin or a wool conditioner but if it's mostly synthetic that won't work
tragically from japan and in a not returnable purchase kinda way but i guess i could sell em yea
owh so thats the problem it being mostly synthetic?
thanks future look out on what not to buy
not to be sexist but i just realised i asked this question on a server of men thats like just got into fashion or midway finding their style. what would we know about fabrics except buy something else. das a good point
Plenty of ppl with great style know jack shit about materials and vice versa
yea but that thought never even came to me as a possibility like genuinely an oooooh moment
also just asked chatgpt about wool so it dont matter how high the wool percentage is, if its cheap wool it will be itchy
but also thats means that 100 dollar jacket on sale that usually costs over 200 with the fine texture up close zoom pic means i really should buy it
well i hope its still on sale
its a uniqlo trench its only avail in beige if youre interested
There's more than one thing that can make wool itchy but the big one is the texture of the individual fibers. Fibers that are coarser and/or shorter will be itchier; longer and thinner fibers usually feel softer. The same principle applies for plant-based fabric, that's why pima cotton is softer than regular. If it's dried out that can also make it worse which is why wool conditioner helps.
As with a lot of things, getting something more expensive won't always be better, but worse things are more likely to be cheaper. Breeds like Merino that have really soft wool can command a higher price, same with other animal fibers like silk, cashmere, or alpaca.
Adding synthetics can make wool feel softer, it can also help with structure or water resistance. But given the wool to poly ratio in the pants you got, it was probably a cost saving measure, and they probably cheaped out on the wool as well to the point that you couldn't do much to make it softer. They was why my advice was to return it.
