what to do instead of shopping?
i'm convinced i have enough clothes for winter and i like them, but i just am getting bored and antsy. does anyone have suggestions for stuff instead of window shopping online which inevitably turns into a bit of real shopping. i know there are many guides online but interested in hearing what worked for people specifically. dear god don't make me get back into neopets or something

What about picking up something like knitting or sewing?
following because i have the same problem and want to hear
i do a bit of hand sewing and actually feel great because i attached a hook & eye to my coat the other day. i have tried to get into crocheting/knitting with mixed results. maybe should pick up again though good point!
I have been knitting lately and it's given me a social group of knitters, is clothing related, and slows down my pace
youre right i just need to be serious about it... if i were serious about it maybe i'd get good
I'm not very good at it yet but I'm enjoying learning and improving
And have aspirations to make cool things I'll cherish
hell yes!!!!
And plus everyone I know who knits is really kind and supportive
Simply find something else to obsess over
Like tea :xd:
when i get bored n antsy i like to dig up fabric scraps/cut up clothes i don't like or wear anymore and embroider on them
or doing some mending on clothes!
that's honestly also a good idea but i draw the line at expensive hermes teacups, BESTIE
i'm pretty good about mending clothes actually!!!
maybe i need to cause more problems to my clothes so i can mend them more im just kidding lmfao
I want to mend clothes but I have nothing that needs to be mended at this moment and feel stunted because of it hah
nice! i tend to put it off so these moods are good for me personally haha
cool that u do it regularly
i do have this small stain on my duvet cover that i can't get out so some visible mending over that would be cute i think
i just live a sedentary and not very hard wearing lifestyle ngl
i'm not rough & tumble either but like 75% of my closet is thrifted so theres always smthn for me to fiddle with haha
I said the same thing and my other cups are still stuck in a warehouse in China so clearly H was the winning move
i think what casey does it cool--buy something beat up and cheap and use it as a 'project piece'
I was just thinking about this too, it's a great point
i've been haunting my local goodwill for something like that lately :o
I need to deprogram myself to stop only looking for things in good condition somehow
this casey? https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1137185157250555984/1314724257086832641 i will have to stalk posts for inspo
i need to join this thread damn
yes that one
sick
ty!
casey the goat of cool repair work
when i get too into shopping i try to just focus on things that are entirely separate from fashion
which is pretty non specific...but it can be whatever. listening to music, video games, touching grass, etc.
grass 😠i hardly know her ðŸ˜
:xd: tea is kinda like grass
close enough
i'm checking my transaction history around may - june when my life was totally consumed by studying for some exam for work
it's not clear to me actually that i spent less money on clothes
oh ive also had success shopping for other people
like browsing ssense but for things that i would never buy for myself
my hobby is looking at stupid things on therealreal and trying to find what collection it came from on vogue which is really just a way for me to look at lookbooks with a different perspective and context
I like going to goodwill and looking at every single thing in the store tbh
even if I'm not buying
I just like digging around and looking at shit
I bought a cooked cardigan off eBay for like $20 shipped so I could try repairing and embroidering it
That would be good for me to practice on something low stakes. Thank you for the idea!
reminds me of when i bought a cardigan off ebay to try and paint it to imitate this one from acne..
it did not work...........................
My silly lil project
this is cute!!!!!!!!
I love that
This is super cool that you tried and experimented with it still! Who knows how many times it took acne to get it right
the folks in #DIY would love to have you and theres also a lot of great books if you're a reader both fashion and non
I forget this channel exists too, thank you for calling it out
Read it
do not
Okay fine. Maybe read this instead.
Do you enjoy seeing people suffer?
Then give him Infinite Jest, then House of Leaves, and he can be THE most annoying man
add gravity's rainbow in there
Oof, and yeah

I wanna try a project like this at some point
i cant read french sorryyyyyyy
this is incredible!
that's something to do instead of shopping
in seriousness i get that feeling sometimes and it's usually remedied by doing something non-fashion adjacent (walking, cleaning, eating, playing music, etc)
i also hid my ebay app and uninstalled depop/poshmark so it's harder to doomscroll, which made this feeling come up less often
Have you considered gambling? don’t do this
it’s preferable to learning french
You should gamble, a friend in another discord hit a 25k parlay last nfl week
(Don’t do this)
i don’t think my work even allows me to do anything too stupid
Oh you’d be surprised at how many stupid things are free
I won like 50 cents in poker last night
