Stripes - Topic of the day 12/5/24
Get your credit cards ready because we're talking about stripes. What are your favorite striped items? What is the right stripe - thin or thick? Straight or jagged? Breton, tiger, university, pinstripe, prison (that's a joke folks), something else?!

Chalkstripe suit is my favorite type of suit
I consider stripes one of the louder and more difficult patterns to wear now, which is kinda funny considering how a simple striped shirt is so common among young men.
So my favorites tend to be more subtle, like combinations of dark brown, grey, and black that are really close in tone and ideally even more subdued by some texture goin on.
here's a lovely ann demeulemeester coat that shows this
I also like when you get a striped effect from variations in weave, like these muji herringbone fatigues that i owned for a bit
I love university stripe. Feels like the perfect stripe density for a shirt
I also love rugby shirts with a big horizontal stripe in the middle. But only one stripe, maybe with multiple colors
Im surprised there isnt much love for hickory stripes, given workwear is a pretty well represented style here
Been trying to find uni stripe oxfords in more colors. Have blue, pink, and green. Want gray and brown.

Coincidentally wore some striped socks today
Vertical stripe shirts are probably my faves for the office. I will say I generally only like thinner stripes (1/8 inch give or take?). Have a hang up about wide stripe dress shirts I just can't get over. Same with contrast collars actually.
I have gray striped Oxford shirts from Proper Cloth (very hefty) and Spier (lighter, better for layering) that I'm happy with.
Still trying to find the perfect dark brown stripe. I once found a marvelous BB Black Fleece one at a consignment shop but it was a touch too tight.
It's pretty easy to find light brown stripes. I have one from Uniqlo. The Anthology has a nice one in stock right now that I've been eyeing.
Yeah big fan
